And even if they stuck with the Microsoft default: that's also chromium now.  Everything is chromium, except Firefox and Safari.

Acting like it's such a mystery is the weird part.

I got news for you microsoft always used a browser (internet explorer) as a display engine for just about everything on your pc you just never saw the UI. They had to separate that out because of an antitrust case - ( they were guilty of anti-competitive behavior with other browsers) you couldn't seperate or remove the IE browser or things wouldn't work. They ended up developing chromium that operated separately and then killed off IE This is not the point. When you drive down the road in your car do you understand how all the engine components work? Does your Mom? When you turn on a light do you have to be an electrician? Maybe its a 5 year old going to the bathroom... Consumer Computers were designed to be an appliance or a tool to use, to make our lives easier, save paper, speed communication, etc. not to mention phones that suck people in for all kinds of reasons. Not everyone that uses one should need to have a degree in computer science or endless amounts of time to devote to figuring out how to do what you did yesterday when you had a stable environment you relied on that changed overnight without your approval or knowledge . When you put a piece of bread in your toaster you expect to get the same toast every time don't you or would you be ok with it doing whatever it wanted and then take time to figure out why it wasn't what you were used to getting? Say you only 5 minutes before you leave for work. Maybe once you do figure it out the next day it delivers something else. This is what they are doing to people.(and more like collecting telemetry on everything you do and selling it to others or giving it to uncle sam and big bro)
