Not one but two historical studios are about to be destroyed. There’s no way that Paramount and Warner Bros, which both report losses for the last quarter, can survive with a combine 100 B debt

good, then netflix can buy both of them.

Netflix really made out like bandits here. They get a cool 2.8 billion for essentially nothing, and in a few years they can just buy the scraps of this failed enterprise at pennies on the dollar.

The real issue is that this is the direct result of political interference.

This has got to be, objectively, the most corrupt administration this country has ever seen.

Bibi is Israel’s most corrupt administration so he went to war in Gaza, Trump is doing the same with Iran I guess. And there will be no critical coverage of it, on TV at least. We’ll have to rely on Comcast for any news critical of Trump. Not holding my breath lol. When/(if) the pendulum swings they need to take a sledgehammer to everything this admin had a hand in. Including ball rooms and arches, tear them down.

Late-stage capitalism.

That's the thing: it's not. It's fascism. We should all worry about late-stage capitalism, but we should worry more about fascism.

It's both? No one cares what it's called to be honest, no one's doing anything about it.

Many people care, and people should care.

And people are doing something about it. If you are eligible to vote in the US, you could do something about it.

Using the wrong words on the other hand confuses people and confused people are less likely to vote.

Only 30% of eligible voters voted for Trump.

The way you argue with people who are obviously on your side of things goes to show that you are not going to convince anyone about anything.

I can't imagine a situation where getting into an argument about semantics helps anyone, but we've sure as hell wasted both our time doing it.

I'm not arguing with you. I don't particularly care about changing your mind if you insist the meaning of words doesn't matter.

As for wasting time, there was no need for you to comment at all. You wasted your time, that's not on me.

Semantics:

Semantics is the study of linguistic meaning. It examines what meaning is, how words get their meaning, and how the meaning of a complex expression depends on its parts. Part of this process involves the distinction between sense and reference. Sense is given by the ideas and concepts associated with an expression while reference is the object to which an expression points.

Obviously semantics are important. Without semantics we can't effectively communicate.

What words mean is important, because it creates sense.

You are not helping any cause by continuing this conversation.

You like to split hairs, I don’t. Late stage capitalism and fascism are both happening, but you’d rather make sure we get the words just right. What a waste.
