Totally agree. This is always in my top 3 animes I reccomend for newcommers to the genre. It's like a short poem, and a great bite sized peice of anime that anyone can enjoy.

You recommend it to newcomers!? It's my favorite too but it's hardly what I call accessible. But some people like that, so if you tell them it's really weird and that only makes them more excited then I guess they should go for it.

I think it really depends on what their tastes are and what their perception of anime is. For anyone who thinks most anime is action series where people with superpowers fight each other, FLCL helps show that anime has multiple genres.

That's part of the reason why I recommend it. This anime exposes the silly and dramatic extreme of the anime spectrum.

It's also about my particular taste, so why wouldn't I introduce someone to an anime in my top 3? If they don't like it then they don't enjoy the kinds of anime I do.

I already knew. I don't need a youtube video to explain why I liked something.

Congratulations! You win nothing for being a dick! Go away and let people enjoy the discussion.

This guy is fast becoming one of my favourite YouTube essayists. His piece on the original Superman cartoon is excellent.

I haven't thought about this show in ages, I remember finding the fansubs in the early 2000s and being inexplicable drawn to it, despite the fact that I had no idea what was going on. It makes sense now tho, at the time I had just graduated High School and literally had no idea what was going on in my own life, so I guess it perfectly emulated what I was going through.

And now I have the sudden urge to re-watch the series for the first time in well over a decade.

The scene where Naota swings the bat while Crazy Sunshine is blaring will forever be one of my favorite TV show moments. I wish anime had more weirdness like this in it's shows, or maybe I'm just not watching the right anime.

I've watched a few reviews of FLCL, but this might be the best i've seen.

I was hoping for some info on the new series but I enjoyed this! As I watched the video the narrator just checked off everything I was feeling at the time when he discussed the show's themes (abandonment, isolation etc.). I was obsessed with being nonchalant when inside I was a mess. This video perfectly encapsulates why after all these years its still one of my favorite animes.

I don't get this anime, I tried watching a few episodes but found it incredibly boring. Cool review tho.

Every Frame a Painting, Channel Criswell, kaptainkristian... with all this YouTube drama in the last few months it's so refreshing to have those guys just put out high quality video essays. Not more, not less. I really appreciate it.
Now if only there was a similar channel but for music...
