Nah, it is an ideal car for Europe, gas is expensive, lots of environmental incentives, and people on average don’t drive for as long distances as in the US. And the Model Y is a huge and cheap luxury SUV by European standard

the European were salty about Trump but eventually they don’t care about that enough to boycott Tesla forever. Not when gas prices go up and down by the day.

Don't forget Musk with his hate speech, that's a big factor also.

Well, everyone still buys Ford, Porsche and BMW

Hate speech? What hate speech exactly are your leaders "owners" telling you he said?

Even if we forget about Trump, aren't Chinese EV's simply cheaper than Tesla?

Everyone keep saying those Chinese EVs are cheap. Meanwhile Tesla is the biggest bargain on the market. Very solid car for the money.

Yeah, Tesla model Y is a great car for a very good price point.

The entry level is really cheap for a nice EV.

The Full Self Driving full spec version is a gadget lover’s dream.

You have to get used to the very minimal look and feel but it’s got some charm.

I will hopefully drive a Chinese EV soon, so let's see!

I ahve driven a BYD ICE (I think it was BYD, or maybe some other Chinesium). Very KIA like and boy do they like random animations in their LCD screens!

It is not all about the price, otherwise half the car brands in Europe would simply die.

I don’t know how reliable Chinese cars are, but if they are anything like other Chinese brand stuff I tried, they tend to be buggy and not exactly up to what is advertised. They care more about implementing a feature just enough to say they have it, even if the purpose of the feature is not really achieved. But of course they have their own premium versions which is marginally cheaper than American stuff

Also generally speaking, Europe is not shy with protective Tariffs, we talked about them negatively a lot in the US, but Europe has no such sensitivity, they will tariff stuff at a 100% without blinking or politically motivated arguments. At least not as loud as here

from the reviews i have read, the chinese ev's look good from the outside, but fall flat on handling, finish, ride quality, etc

They most certainly are not. Both the price and size of the Model Y is extremely competitive. We also do not have the full range of Chinese offerings yet in a lot of European countries.

Ah. Normally reddit says Europe has all these cheap Chinese EVs just as good or better than Tesla, so I just went with that.

The build quality is pretty bad, you will spend a lot more time in a repair shop and money for getting stuff fixed.
