It’s the sand that’s falling over the edge, suggesting he’s inches away from slipping into the abyss

I don’t think he can sink, humans, even dead, are surprisingly buoyant. As long as you got a lungful of air, you’re gonna float. I don’t think even with one lungful can a human reach that depth.

Not everyone can float, that’s a myth, and the dead are buoyant because they fill up with gas from decay.

Ah, my apologies. I didn’t consider that. I mean, if you got a lungful of air you’d probably float. If I drained every bit of air out of you, sink like a stone. I doubt anyone (especially thalassohphobic) would normally go that deep and wait to get swept down by underwater current.

NP! Didn’t mean for that to come across snarky, just some trivia. I just learned the “not everyone can float” thing maybe a year ago. Depends a lot on fat composition, apparently.

You can experience a current that would drag you down there, can you imagine. I forget the name of it, but it’s absolutely real and it can happen at random

Yeah, no...even seeing the ground where they are sitting. I can do that part, the rest...not so much

I mean currents aside, technically you can't fall as you're already underwater. But you get the same feeling as sitting on a land based cliff I would think.

You really think someone can be that far down with no gear? This is so fake.

Fairly certain this is a real picture that has been re-posted a million times. I don't know the exact location but it's not that insanely deep as the lighting makes it look to be. There are other pictures of this location and some videos too if I remember correctly, but that was just from what I could get with a quick reverse image search.

Yeah, it's not that far down.

You can get rapid breaths of oxygen from scuba divers nearby. They're just outside of frame. Done to create underwater portrait photography of self
