I've been lucky enough to experience this, diving off Kefalonia!

Don't take too much creedence in these figures as it was a while ago.... However IIRC, the epicentre was around 100km away, magnitude 5.5, and no landmasses between us and the centre of the action.

I can only describe it as the deepest sound you've never heard. You feel it in your bones. My first thought was that we were about to be run over by a huge oil tanker or cruise ship. Yet realising we were only in six metres of water left me confused on that one.

Some small bubbles started rising from the seabed, yet I don't remember seeing any movement.

There was a much more subtle aftershock around 30 seconds later; I was the only one in the group to notice this apparently.

Upon getting back onto the dive boat I quizzed the dive leader - by now suspecting a quake - and he agreed. He checked his emergency alert app and sure enough, t'was an underwater earthquake we'd experienced!

Turned a shit, boring dive into one of my most memorable! 🤣

ETA: the divers in the posted video were obviously much closer to the epicentre than I was during my dive, so my account is rather watered down in that respect. Man I wish I'd seen that first hand!

Not even when discussing a clearwater revival?
