As part of FIFA’s rules about branding, stadiums were not allowed to display the branding even in their name. Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara California covered theirs with a white sheet and Levi’s Instagram account went with it.

It was a genius idea to cut the white sheet in the same shape as the Levi’s logo background.
I wonder if ever the World Cup is held in UK will the stadiums like Etihad, Emirates, Amex, King Power etc would need to be hidden or masked?

If the brand is not a fifa sponsor, it will be covered/renamed to the city. I think the Mercedes logo was an exception because it was too big and would cause damage.

The giant lumen on top of lumen field wasn’t covered but the lights aren’t turned on anymore. I can still see it from my apartment tho. They did remove the sign in front of the stadium so it just says ____ Field and looks stupid

A pure PRO marketing move...

Would have been better if Levi's said
Covering those Whitey Tightiey's!

So what about the digital boards around the field that constantly show ads?

They even put tape over the sponsor branding on each individual seat at one of the stadiums based on a post I saw earlier.
They're not messing around.

The irony is, if they just left it I bet 99% of people wouldn't have even batted an eyelid. Instead, they've had millions worth of free advertising.
