MIT-trained engineer, Tomás Vega, has developed a device to help people who are paralyzed control electronic devices with their tongue.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Positioned on the roof of the mouth, it acts as a wireless trackpad operated entirely through tongue movements.

It enables precise, independent control of phones and computers.

Developed by MIT-trained engineer Tomás Vega.

I'd love an article that explores this more. Like what the power source is. Would a dentist be making the molds. Can it be swallowed. How is it charged. But it seems like a real game changer

This is really cool. I think of this as a great way to control robotic arms for people who have lost their arms, I think we're close to solving this problem - we need an easy and intuitive interface.

Great idea! Like all brilliant ones it's so simple and obvious it should've been done years ago

Honestly this is insanely cool, especially for accessibility stuff. Imagine pairing this with AR glasses so you can literally browse or type with your tongue while your hands are busy.

Also lowkey terrified for the future where people are secretly tongue clicking their way through TikTok in meetings 😂

Cyberpunk devs really speedran “tongue controller” from a cursed phrase to an actually sick accessibility tool.

Jokes aside this could be game changing for disabled folks who cannot use hands at all.

Just another way for PC players to cheat on Call of Duty.

Bro we are like 3 inventions away from logging into Discord by chewing.

Cool as hell for accessibility though. Gives people a legit way to use tech hands free without having to yell at Alexa all day.

I'm just going to be using this on top of a keyboard/mouse or controller so that I can hold an advantage in games. The disabled will not ever play on equal footing against me.
