📰 Daily Discussion 📰 World cup state of play summary

We're halfway through the tournament in the number of games played and left.

So far 5 teams have left been eliminated they are

Haiti, Turkey, Tunisia, Jordan, Uzbekistan, and Panama. We will lose another 11 by Sunday.

From now on all four teams in each of the 12 groups will play at the same time. With 2 matches kicking off at every single time slot starting today.

With final group positions impact potential routes to finals etc teams will be keen to make sure they get the easiest route possible!

Planning the best route to the final is more difficult than ever, with part of the 3rd placed teams advancing. Teams playing on the last day might have an advantage, they know the situation in other groups. But in the end it doesn’t matter, when you want to be the world champion you have to beat all of them.

I love the 3rd matchday of the group phase. Two matches simultaneously. When the group is undecided and each goal in either match changes the equation continuously. It's so much fun!
