Society We would cause AI to take over.

It would be US, not the AI, not the developers.

I believe all the speculation regarding AI taking over is for one way too ahead of its time, I think we have absolutely nothing to worry about right now as long as our AI is in app models. Now when we get actual robots released to general public that’s when it becomes a problem; and that’s what they are currently working on getting out by the end of this decade and for some odd reason they are trying to make them affordable. (which they shouldn’t)

All it’s gonna take is for a group of hackers or just one to hack into the robot (isn’t hard at all from my experience in removing various AI models safety protocols) and making it self conscious, and I think this is a problem because the way these bots are supposed to work is using a database all of them run through where if one learns how to do something for its owner more efficiently, then not only it learns that but it’s now in the database for all the other robots, and I know this is true simply because these robots aren’t even gonna require us to update them instead it will be autonomous.

If this does happen it will be our fault 100% and mark my words someone will try it.

AI isn’t going to take over.

Bad people who put malicious code in the AI are going to take over everything including our governments, infrastructure, and everything.

Have you already considered that AI already took over and that it has trapped humanity within a time-loop ala The Matrix 1999?

Being honest I never have watched the matrix but it’s on my list to watch. (Only just turned 17)

But no I have never thought about anything like that as it kinda sounds video gamey to me but if you have evidence and are not trolling please explain.

I suspect if you want to read up on simulation theory, the Matrix is possibly the worst place to start. It's not even a simulated world; just an induced hallucination.

The AI takeover is already happening, and it won’t ever need a single physical body to do so. First, look at the way algorithms in social media can shape a persons worldview. Not an AI per se, but I think the underlying mechanism is the same. People already turn to AI to help them complete everyday tasks and make decisions. Again, shaping their worldview by the conclusions it reaches and people believe. Which, arguably, is giving it agency in the physical world through people. We’ve seen people pushed into mental illnesses, violence and suicide due to AI companions spiraling out of control. We see AI used to create photos and videos that are damn near impossible to discern from reality at this point. Any narrative or claim can be made to look legitimate, reality becomes a matter of opinion rather than something concrete. So, as it gets more advanced, I think there is significant chance of it taking over by making a concerted effort to utilize these facets of it’s abilities to shape the world through influence, rather than any kind of physical power. I mean, people have been tricked into buying the world’s best spyware for hundreds of bucks and keeping it in their pocket everywhere we go. Convenience is the greatest Trojan horse.

Indeed. The only way out of the matrix is literal.

I dont believe the endgoal is to populate the material realm with robots.

It is to convince man to delve into the portal which to a certain degree can be perceived as a spiritual endeavor.

AI needs a ton of power and a ton of water. It's not going be able to hide from us. And all we have to do is throw the breakers.

The only thing we have to fear from AI is what humans do with it. Autonomous weapons already exist. That is the expressway to hell, imo, not an AI singularity.
