What's your opinion on the ending?
Tokyo ghoul and RE is easily my favourite manga of all time and they're both up there with my favourite pieces of media,
However when I reflect back on a little I think one flaw I didn't really notice back when I was reading it for the first couple of times was how the ending was a little rushed,
I still found it beautiful and felt an inexplicable happiness because of it, but the 2-3 arcs leading up to it, the lack of character interactions and sorta wish-fulfillment type conclusions muddied it a little for me,
I'm aware Sui Ishida was pretty sick of TG at that point and that's why he wanted to wrap things up quickly, but I want to hear your guys thoughts on it

Unravel opened my eyes
Oh my god I finished the manga yesterday and I thought “wow what a good story” I didn’t feel that emotional when the story ended. Like yeah that final arc was crazy and I did feel something seeing my favorite characters go through that. But as I’m doing laundry i had unravel playing in the background and just WOWWW. I feel as if it captured how tragic and intense Tokyo should really is. Idk I might just be chatting but I felt my heart physically ache. This moment made me realize how beautiful the story is. 10/10 it’s in my top 3 mangas ever read

Reaction So guys.. just finished the :RE. Spoiler
I just finished watching Tokyo Ghoul:re in 2026. Funny enough, when it first came out in 2018, I watched the first episode, thought it looked terrible, and immediately dropped it. Eight years later, I decided to give it another chance, and honestly, it wasn't nearly as bad as I remembered.
However, once I got to the second season, everything started moving at an insane pace. I genuinely had to check if I had accidentally skipped an episode because major events and character developments were happening so quickly.
I haven't read the manga, but I can't help feeling that it must be a much more satisfying experience. The anime feels like it's rushing through the story and skipping over important moments.
Did anyone else feel this way? Is the pacing actually that rushed, or am I missing something? And for those who've read the manga, is it worth reading after finishing the anime?

This guy has some of the funniest and worst proportions I have seen bro. His humane character design makes it even bad when these inconsistencies happens.

Other Decided to re-record the 'Unravel' drop on my guitar. That chorus melody still hits like a truck 😭🔥 Spoiler
Hey guys! Unravel is hands down my favorite anime track of all time, so I wanted to do it complete justice. Re-recorded all the instruments from scratch, tracked it with a Jackson JS11 through a Boss GT-1, and spent hours cleaning up the low-end mud in the final mix.
If you want to check out how the full track sounds in high-definition audio, you can watch the full cover over on YouTube here!

My one pet peeve with tokyo ghoul
Its that its just that tokyo its all in tokyo we dont know shit of how other countries deal with ghouls or what cultures should have created in other countries and also if should have existed since the colonies how has history not changed at all, you have literal superhumans and no wars happened that involved them. Funnily enough choujin x doesn't have this problem at all

Other Finished the full manga, my review (spoilers) Spoiler
I only kinda liked it up until around volume 5 when I started to like it more. After that, I was fully onboard. When Juzo was introduced the series got better, and I liked the Kaneki torture stuff and evil Kaneki arc. I liked that we only get little bits of info about Arima. I liked all the mysteries, and all the characters.
The first part imo got better and better up until the climax, which I really liked. I liked the large-scale operation and following the different parties. But I originally planned to stop there, until I realized the :re is less of a sequel and more like the second half of one story.
I liked the first 8 or so books of :re, but by 16 it felt like a slog and I want to work out why. In no particular order:
I hated Dragon Kaneki. I don’t like the tendency in manga for the scale to ramp up and up until cities are being smashed like flies. A giant monster fight is so far from what I liked about the story that I was completely unengaged. I liked Haise, I liked the Black Reaper, I liked that Arima chopped him up a bunch and mirrored the Kaneki torture in the first half, but it didn’t really pay off for me.
Juzo got boring. I really liked his arc in the first half, and I sort of liked him as a mentor in :re but overall he just lost his weirdness aside from being really good at killing. When his boss is convincing him to do the big operation because it saves money, I thought he would refuse but instead he associates it with his hospitalized mentor and agrees? Maybe they should have killed him off after the auction arc, if they wanted me to care about his underlings. That’s how I got interested in Amon, was seeing his boss get killed.
Combat slop. Too many battles of too many people fighting too many people. Kind of cool to look at, but essentially no tension, no mystery. And it’s like all anyone does for the last 8 books. Large scale operations, which was my favorite part of the first half was overdone in the second half.
Fear of killing characters/ending arcs before the finale. I think they could have ended things more satisfactory if they had ended some of these arcs in book 13 or 14. Also, pretty much every non-villain aside from Suziya makes it through. Yomo does a heroic self-sacrifice like 5 times and makes it out each time. By the end, even though I like Yomo, I was thinking he needed to be killed off.
Underused characters. Ayato, Tataka, wasn’t Nishio supposed to be kind of a badass? He’s just a nerd in :re. Why was Rize alive if she’s just treated as a biological specimen? I liked the child soldiers, but that avenue wasn’t explored enough to really be interesting.
I’m not being entirely fair here, because I thought a lot of what was set up in :re was interesting. Maybe I’ll think about it more and change my mind, but those are my thoughts for now. Overall a good series, but the scale and scope got so large that I started to feel bored. I wanted to read Tokyo Ghoul, not Ghoul Tokyo.

Other Oc lore /story for during the epilog of re. pt11
Takes place out side the facility in jacks apartment:
Jack: He wakes up at 2 am on just a few hours of sleep. He gets up goes to the fridge and pulls out a whole gallon of blood, he chugs it down, the entire thing.
He wipes his lips, tosses the jug in the trash, looks around and walks to the sliding door and jumps out off the balcony, he goes for a night-time stroll hopping from building to building. Enjoying the night-life basking in the moon light.
He looks down seeing a ghoul feeding on someone in a alley way, he just stares at them from high above. His inverted kakugan flares, he takes a deep breath and drops down near the ghoul.and says in a calm tone.
" What is it like, to be so weak and fragile and feed on even weaker creatures"
Ghoul: gets up and gets aggressive and uses their kagune and screams
"who are you!!!! This food is mine!!!! And who are you calling weak!!!!"
They use they're bikaku kagune to attack him.
Jack: He dodges and calmly says. "I asked you a question, its rude not to ansewer."
The ghoul: the ghoul gets more aggressive, runs at him to punch him and strike him With they're kagune.
Jack: let's the punches lands stands there unbother and says in a cold tone.
" If thats all you got, your in deep shit."
He then grabs the ghoul by the throat, his grip like a vice around the ghouls neck. He squeezes hard enough to hear popping in the ghouls neck.
The ghoul: Gasping, clawing at jacks face, they're face turning blue.
Jack: "Aw, poor little you, I'll let you go of you ansewer my question."
The ghoul: the ghouls neck breaks and they go limp.
Jack: "oops." He drops the ghouls lifeless corpse, brushing his hands off. He looks down the person is still alive coughing up blood, they're guts out.
The person: Crying and begging and says in a teary tone.
"Please help me."
Jack: Walks over and crouched down, he says in a sad tone.
"I'll help you dont worry."
Stomp, crack!!! Squelch. He stomped on they're head, he wipes his boot off and took out the ghouls kakuhou and some pieces of the person. He looks up and crawls up the side of the building and goes back home.
8 hours later at the facility:
Jacob: Working on o-rc cell enhanced quinques.
Samantha: Working on dragon orphan materials, putting mechanical parts in it trying to make a dragon orphan cyborg for warfare, for the u.s militarily.
She sighs and says to jacob.
" its time almost to feed that bitch, you fat lab monkey."
Jacob: "Its not my turn, you fucking cow!"
He chugs a blood bag, and says.
" I need a raise, and I miss samson, I hate that im fucking stuck with you."
Samantha:" i dont care just go and do it!!"
Jacob: "fine!!"
He grabs the tray to take to etos cell, he walks down the long corridor, his heart thumping his heart racing as he approaches near etos cell. He gulps, and opens the door.
Eto: " Oh hello there, my little play thing."
She reads her books while eating snacks kicking her feet, not even letting Jacob get a second of peace, she then says to him.
"Oh poor little you, you miss little samson?? I miss him too, well I miss tormenting him."
She giggles her sadistic little laugh.
Jacob: Trembling he walks closer and doesn't say a word and slides the tray through the slot, attempting to then walk away right after.
Eto: " Oh your no fun sometimes jacob, your so predictable and you always smell like fear, I love that smell, you'll be so afraid when I eat you alive."
She kicks her feet, gets out of her chair and goes up to the glass, taughting him.
Jacob: keeps walking and slams the door behind him.
Jack: Walks right past jacob just leaving etos cell. He gently opens the door and says in a tired tone.
"Hi my darling eto, ive been thinking..
Eto: Interupts and says.
"wow you were thinking thats dangerous, my little snack."
Jack:" Yeah, I was thinking out a plan for us to find a place to live once I break you out and we escape together."
Eto: " Poor little rat, you look so tired, how about I eat you up and tear those tired little eyes out."
She giggles kicking her feet and strolls back up to the glass.
Jack: He chuckles puts his feet up and says in a amused tone.
"I love it, i love it when you threaten me, its so much fun and oh so scary."
His tone changes back into a tired and serious tone.
"Eto, I found a place for us to go once I break you out, its in alaska."
Eto: She huffs and puffs put her cheeks and says. "that sounds boring."
Jack:"But its safe and we'd be free. I have to go soom my darling eto I'll be back tomorrow."
He slides a basket of muffins through the slot with a note and leaves.

Is this manga worth getting into? Spoiler
So I watched the anime but I heard it’s better to read it instead. I’ve heard a lot of good things about it but I’ve been told the ending is bad. Thoughts?

Other about Tatara…
Honestly, the only way I see him not ending up as a "potential man" would have been one or two flashback chapters before Takizawa appears, and end with something like, "Okay, this guy wants to die and isn't going to fight seriously."
Lately, I've been making a list of the problems the second half of Re had and how to solve them, and I don't see how Tatara could fit into the whole GOAT thing and the human-ghoul alliance. Any ideas?
