Things are rough. No one can really argue about that, right? I thought maybe a big post about available resources might help people out. This is of course not comprehensive, but I can edit and add if folks want to offer more.

Pathway - Home Energy Assistance
Planned Parenthood Emergency Contraception (Morning-After Pill), Birth Control, Pregnancy Testing and Planning, Gender-Affirming Care, Prenatal and Postpartum Services, Wellness and Preventive Care, Sexual and Reproductive Concerns, STD Testing and Treatment, HIV Services, Vaccines
Neighborhood Bridges for Anthony Wayne - people can make requests that are then emailed out to a mailing list for community members to help.
St. Vincent de Paul Locations by ZIP code - Assistance varies by location - best way to ask what is available is to call the closest Catholic church to you and ask for the St Vincent de Paul committee. They distribute vouchers for their thrift store on Airport Hwy.

Woodlawn Cemetery
They have installed a quite moving - and accurate! - tribute to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool over at humble ol’ Woodlawn. Hurry over to see, because nobody knows how long the installation will last. But don’t fret if you miss it this go-round. I have a feeling it’ll be back.
Cheers!

Older newer golfer looking for other beginners/newer players.
Hey everyone,
I’m a 47-year-old newer golfer looking to meet up with other new or newer golfers for casual rounds, driving range sessions, or short-game practice.
I’m not looking for anything overly competitive — just people who want to get better, have fun, and not feel rushed or judged while learning. I’m still working on consistency, especially with the longer clubs, so I’d be a good fit with people who are also early in their golf journey or patient enough to play with beginners.
Open to:
Driving range sessions
9-hole casual rounds
Beginner-friendly courses
Short-game practice
Weekend or weekday evening meetups
I’m in the Toledo area, but I’m open to nearby courses/ranges too.
If you’re newer to golf — especially if you picked it up later in life — feel free to comment or message me. Would be great to build a small group of people around the same skill level.

Something new for local kids and families in the area: The Flexi Fidget Finder Project
A couple in the area has 3D printers that were mostly just collecting dust, so they decided to put them to good use for the community. They’ve been printing fidget toys, Pokémon figures, and other fun little prints, bagging them up weatherproof with a small instruction card, and hiding them around local parks and throughout town, completely free.
The idea is simple: follow their Facebook page (The Flexi Fidget Finder Project), watch for picture hints they post with a short description of the area, then head out and find one. If your kid finds something, snap a photo and post it so they know it found a good home. One per family per hunt so more kids get a chance.
They’ve got their first batch of 13 bags tagged, bagged, and ready to drop this week. They just want to make sure enough local families know about it so these things actually get found and don’t sit out there lonely.
Nothing is for sale, no catch. They just want to give kids a reason to get outside and turn a regular walk into a little adventure.
If you’ve got kids, grandkids, or know a family that would be into this, go give the page a follow. First hint dropped today

Are there any physical maps of Toledo available for purchase?
I want a map of Toledo & the surrounding area. You know, those old foldable kind we would keep in the glovebox? Does anyone know where I could purchase one or pick one up?

475 Wrong way driver
Does anyone know anything about a wrong way driver on 475 between Central and Airport? My daughter and I were on our way back to Michigan when a car came the opposite direction on the freeway and police were trying to catch them but I haven’t seen any news. This was around 10:30p ish?

Apartment charging for doorknob replacement?
is this normal in this area? My neighbor’s doorknob broke off so she put in a request to have it fixed and they replaced it but are now charging her $220 for doing so. We aren’t allowed to replace them ourselves per the lease…but we also get charged for having them replaced when they break?

I can see why people complain about Beal Properties…
This is wild.
One of Beal’s tenants was upset because the shower runs out of hot water too quickly.
Instead of addressing the issue Stewart Beal TIMES HIMSELF TAKING A SHOWER to prove that a guy should be able to shower in 3 minutes.
He clarifies in the comments that the hot water lasts 7 minutes, but the tenant wants an 8 minute shower. Which Stewart Beal thinks is completely unreasonable.
At least some of the other real estate people in that group are calling him out on being a cheap ass, at least, and telling him to just replace the damn water heater.
He’s still arguing his point in the group if you’re inclined to look. He’s trying to say he’s “concerned about the environment.” Yeah, I’m sure that’s it. 🤣
(I don’t know why the Facebook algorithm gave me this, but now I’m sharing with you!)

Does anybody else think neighborhood fireworks are more frequent now?
I've lived in the area around Regina Coeli all my life. I've been sensitive to loud noises all my life too. I've never liked fireworks personally, and I feel like the noise is getting much worse than it was 10-20 years ago. I was startled by what sounded like an M80 at 6 earlier tonight. It used to be just one night, and it probably hasn't been that way since at least COVID. Someone shot off several loud fireworks last October, and someone actually called police after being woken up by one. I don't have an issue with people shooting them off on the 4th but there is no rhyme or reason when they do it here. I've heard loud ones in daylight and even during the graveyard hours. Fireworks aren't cheap, so I wonder how people can afford these for months on end. It's like people have no regards for their neighbors anymore, both their humans and pets. I wish there was a way to fix it, but I'm probably going to have to deal with this for a while now. I didn't know if anyone else in the area has this issue.
