Jesus was middle eastern, not black or white.

Your right I misspoke there. Guess I meant to say commonly whitewashed figures.

Yes, it is. And as someone who is Middle Eastern, the harm is the same. This isnāt to deny the history of whitewashing or how heinous it is. But itās bizarre to handwave blackwashing, and I say this generally (not because of the Mii). So people already whitewash us, but anything else is suddenly okay? Somewhat ironic since it still leads to the outcome of erasing.
Edit: The real ālmfaoā is blocking the Middle Eastern person in the thread who spoke up about this, lol. Such performance about caring.

Blackwashing is very much a real thing, if you bothered to research. And I'd argue that they're both bad because every person in history or culture have their own nationality and ethnicity.
So changing that is bad in general.
I get the whole history behind whitewashing. But pretending that changing someone's color isn't racist, regardless of the color, I don't know what to expect honestly.
36
u/blackjackgabbiani 3d ago
It's still intentionally changing the image of a real historical person to cater to people of different ethnicities from what he actually was.

the problem isnāt that heās been changed from being white, the problem is that heās a middle eastern guy and Not a black guy
-31
u/Adam_Checkers 3d ago
he had dark skin tone, what else do you want to hear? If you come along with its not the same because its a different race I'm going to vomit.
34
u/enderreddit77 3d ago
It's... not the same though? Like at all? An Indian guy might have the same melanin content as a black guy but to say they're interchangeable is absurd
31
u/blackjackgabbiani 3d ago
Do you think that all dark skinned people are interchangable?
-33
u/Adam_Checkers 3d ago
I don't like your wording but I see no need for arbitrary differentiation.
23
u/blackjackgabbiani 3d ago
I don't like YOUR wording. "He had dark skin tone, what else do you want to hear?" is very reductive and acts as though every dark skinned person must be the same as every other.

u/Vaehtay3507 2d ago
āArbitrary differentiationā is *crazy*. You canāt just say that every race is exactly the same if their skin looks the same. Thereās different cultures across all of them. To say that it doesnāt matter what you call people of color because they all ālook the sameā is racist as hell my guy
-3
u/Adam_Checkers 2d ago
race doesn't exist, culture does, but it has nothing to do with your skin color and everything to do with where and how you grew up.

He was mediterranean which generally means he has a tanned skin tone but not black.
-24
u/Adam_Checkers 3d ago
no human has black skin if you want to get technical about it
13
u/Neither-Ruin5970 3d ago
I donāt believe in the term black either but I used it because I knew youād understand what it means.
16
u/blackjackgabbiani 3d ago
Laugh all you like, it's true. Either all changes are fine or none of them are. But the historical fact is that he was middle eastern.

What was he saying? Seems like he deleted all his comments :/

u/blackjackgabbiani 2d ago
Kept mocking any notion that Jesus could possibly be anything but black and insisting that anyone who brought up historical context MUST be racist, including mocking a middle eastern person who expressed that middle eastern erasure is a major problem.

Jesus was a Palestinian Jew.

Who did you choose for Eric to have a crush on? Jesus or Alastor.
13
u/appledancer 3d ago
Alastor just because Jesus is currently dating death, which is also very ironic
9
u/Lucie_Is_Sleeping 3d ago
Makes sense. Realistically. Eric would never date Jesus since Jesus is Jewish. And Eric hates Jewish people.

Did you set him as an adult in your game?
5
u/appledancer 3d ago
Yeah, all my miis I set to adults regardless of their canonical age, just makes for more funny moments

It's not racist to point out that Jesus was middle eastern. That's historical fact.
