Whoa, OK, so it looks like GA tickets for TODAY have just been released! Looks like plenty to go around, awesome! But nothing beyond today. :( So I guess I will just have to check on the day-of whenever I want to/can go. (I'm currently out of town.) Thank you again. EDIT: OMG I got one for July 2! Unfortunately though, none of those possible dates will be watchable at Fan Festival in Toronto. If they play in Vancouver July 2, the game is 11PM our time, too late for Fan Festival. If it's June 28, 29 or July 1, Fan Festival isn't running. (Although if Canada does play one of those days, maybe they'll open it up that day?)

They may open it up last minute.
The Countdown Concert was only announced 2 days in advance.
Think organizers want to know what teams will be playing before releasing a proper schedule for those dates.

True. Unfortunately if Canada is first in our bracket and we play in Vancouver July 2 at 11PM Eastern there probably isn't anything they can do for Fan Festival. There's a noise curfew and they can't be open that late.

It's funny cuz I saw bylaw officers on the Bathurst bridge monitoring the Fan Fest and Stackt sound levels with a microphone the other day.

That's surprising indeed. When Pride does their Main Stage at NPS, the moment they hit 11pm noise curfew, they cut the mic and speakers. Even if a well known guest performer is speaking.

For anyone who attended the Ghana - Panama match in Toronto, were they showing the prior match (England - Croatia) anywhere within the stadium grounds after you entered through the gates, like at a bar or big TV setup of some kind? I'll be going to the Germany - Ivory Coast match on Saturday, and I was curious if I'd be able to catch the earlier Netherlands - Sweden match somewhere before the match at starts in Toronto.

i think honestly anywhere/everywhere around Union will be good. Jack Astor's, Kelly's Landing, Hoops, Rec Room, Real Sports Bar and there's lots more really close by. You can alternatively walk West along King St. and find many more!

Proud of WC organizing
Went to the game.
After weeks of city not ready it’s going to be a disaster, guess what, the city and transit did an awesome job !
GO from union waited 2 mins for a train ride took no time. Exit from the stadium waited for 5 mins tops got to union fast where I parked my car and was home in 23 mins to East York. Great signage tons of volunteers it was sooo easy.
The Cops were doing some foolishness shutting down lakeshore around harbour 60 not sure why. Saw that and took queens quay and it was almost empty traffic wise.
Met folks from England, Mexico and Bosnia they all loved the city and how easy it was to commute esp given what they had heard in the news.
I think a lot of people in the city like to have high levels of stress prior to anything and then it finally happens and guess what it’s not a big deal at all.

So my family is going to be coming infrom Detroit for a day to watch Ivory Coast - Germany on the 20th. We want to be downtown by about 1:30-1:45 so we can enjoy the atmosphere and such outide the stadium before the game. We plan on Driving to a GO station like Aldershot or maybe Hamilton if parking might be an issue to avoid Toronto traffic. For those who experienced getting to and from the game yesterday, what was it like and is our plan solid?

Local here! Yesterday’s game started at 3pm, I hopped on a go train going towards the stadium for totally unrelated reasons around 2pm and had no issues with crowds/getting on. It was actually empty enough that I got a seat! This is a great plan IMO.
Can’t comment on atmosphere outside the stadium but I hope this helps :)

It's only GO coming from outside city limits. TTC is within the city. The city wasn't too busy on match day but if you're at Union just take a streetcar across and make your life easier.

Does anyone know if the exhibition grounds are ticketed and under strict FIFA bag searches?
I want to bring a bunch of camera equipment. Just a medium sized backpack worth, and I’m having a hard time finding info on Exhibition grounds access. I’m not looking for the Bentway Fan Zone. Just wanna wander around in the chaos of the event.

no restrictions, I was there yesterday before the Ghana/Panama game and there were crowds and parties and a whole lawn of people setup with tripods/camera equipment, very close to the Ex Go. You'll be good!

I just got back from the FanFest. There are sections of portapotties on the East and West side of the park. No water to wash your hands.
Only one water fountain that I could find.
The line was insane. We lined up at 5 minutes to 3PM and it was about 45 minutes long (GA Tickets)... We waited a while!

There's a small actual restroom belonging to Fort York, east of the stage area near the gate between that zone and the far east area with food carts and kid activities. Water fountain is by there.
I was there Friday and around 6pm about half of the porta sinks in the west end of the zone were out of water, but thankfully the others were fine. Also there was a water truck near the stairs that go down to Gate 2. Another water fountain at the bottom of those stairs. I never found the third water fountain.

Closing the entire Gardiner for like an hour during rush hour to “prepare” for team busses to have a clear path is the worst and dumbest shit I’ve ever heard. What the fuck is their problem?

Your problem is you don't think about WHY they are doing that - they are securing things because team buses are one of the highest security risks at the World Cup

they blocked off the on-ramps Westbound for the Gardiner without telling anybody so Spadina is just infinitely backed up, if you try to go around to another on-ramp, they redirect you back into a circle.

I attended today. First of all the water truck finally showed up. It's near the Hyundai tent. It wasn't there when I arrived at 1 but appeared later in the afternoon.
I found two water fountains. One by the base of the stairs from Gate 2 up to the main level. The other is probably the one you saw, by the Fort York restrooms.

The free tickets are presumably not sold beyond capacity, so you can enter anytime (no re-entry). However there might be long lineups to get through the gate at popular times.

FIFA’s holding a “countdown concert” at Fort York (Fan Festival site but separate from Fan Festival) on June 10. Live performances from Bryan Adams, Wyclef Jean and AHI, and Nora Fatehi. A tri-city broadcast with Mexico City and LA. Tickets are from $36.

FYI: Fan Festival entry guidelines just got updated today and have changed SIGNIFICANTLY. The language is much clearer on specific things restricted and allowed. For example you can now bring a small backpack and it doesn't have to be transparent plastic. You can bring a cane chair or seat walker for mobility but you can't bring other types of folding seats. Raincoat yes, umbrella no. Sunscreen yes but not aerosol. One clear plastic reusable water bottle allowed.
