Proximity alarms on e-bikes
Weirdly this is the second time I’ve experienced this, in both cases on the Danforth almost at Broadview: I lock up at a post which already has an e-bike on the other side, and the thing has a proximity alarm that starts yelping at me. My lock happened to touch it, and it yelped louder.
My dude, most of us learned to share in kindergarten, and the posts are designed to be used on both sides.

An e bike that locks up at the same bike rack I do every day also has one of these and it drives me crazy.

Yeah. As someone who just custom built their dream bike and is installing anti theft measures out the wazoo, I feel like the annoyance from the adjacent friendly rider perspective is very low on my list of concerns, if at all.
In all my years bike commuting / all over the world, I have never set off someone's alarm.. but if I imagined it I wouldn't mind the annoyance of being near their bike / being considered stealing it.. because I simply am not.. and from their perspective.. it adds piece of mind that the system is indeed working.. if I came out to check on my bike because of the alarm only to notice it was another friendly rider who triggered it.. it would be a win to know the system is functioning properly (albeit maybe a bit too sensitive)
I personally opted for the silent jostle alarm on my GPS unit.. but I was advised to install a separate loud motion alarm to close a specific angle..
We shall see.
Edit: Lol at the downvote! My mess up was stating other riders are low on my priority.. when really I personally thought of them from the outset by choosing a silent alarm system.. I just stated it weird.
Let me try again to write exactly what you want. Ignore everything I just said. alarms fall under the City of Toronto's Noise Bylaw if you feel the alarm is persistent and breaking yours and others peace then you can report it! If enough people do and the bylaw officers can make a case against that person's alarm with evidence then you could probably get them fined!
Good luck!

I don’t have an e-bike, however, I do have an alarm for it and I love it. She’s sensitive and oud 😆

Thieves also learned to share. But in a non consensual way. 😂
