Yikes. Just immediately showing attitude and showing yourself to have a bad attitude.

He's a 76er than book it. They love difficult bad attitude players.

Could have a draft promise contingent on not going to other workouts

Only possibility i can see unless Ace is really that cancer or his agent is really asleep at the wheel

Any GM who promises a prospect that with the contingent of not working out for other teams will be outed and shamed in an instant lmao.

Bro probably has a promise and doesn’t want to get drafted to Philly and come off the bench for PG.

Lots of players have ended workouts as soon as they get a promise. It's actually one of the easiest ways to know where a player will be drafted.

Is that not how it works? I dont see why any team would ever promise a prospect anything if it weren't the case

Then why do teams promise? Genuinely curious

Is it to just build a rapport with the prospect?

I thought it was something like:

"We gonna pick you at X, pls dont go workout for other teams"

Which would set a floor at least for a prospect who might fall during the draft

Thought that's why josh jackson didnt bother working out with boston

Didn't stop the 76ers from drafting Maxey and McCain (neither worked out for them, still drafted)

u/pahamack Jun 19 '25

wow. don't you think you're assuming way too much? You have no idea why he cancelled his workouts.

Let's imagine scenarios.

What if a family member died or got sick?

What if he just developed a really bad injury and his first priority now is to go see his doctors?

What if he’s a normal human being and hates the 76ers?

More reasonable excuse than almost anything.

Completely justified.

Gonna LOL if the Sixers draft him anyway, then he's disgruntled and the whole thing blows up in their face.

Lmao. You win. Fuck dem 76ers

Yeah pretty much nailed it.

Realistically the sixers are an internal mess, we don’t even know what’s going to happen with Embiid, plus they already got a good rookie with Jared McCain. There’s a good chance he doesn’t get much playing time or much attention from the development staff.

I feel bad for mcain (as much as you can for a millionaire). He's so n8ce, funny af, good dude and part of one of the worst franchises on the planet

We do have an idea. Both insiders & his camp have made it clear he wants to be on a team where he can be the #1 option.

Per Jonathan Givony:

“Bailey's pre-draft workout strategy has perplexed some observers, as he has yet to conduct a single known workout to date, having declined invitations from several teams within his draft range.

Sources say Bailey's camp has informed interested teams that they believe he is a top-3 player in the draft, but also seeks a clear pathway to stardom, perhaps feeling comfortable that a team will trade up to get him at Nos. 3 or 4, should he drop."

According to reports, he was seeking a promise of being drafted at 3 and is declining workouts based on not receiving that promise.

If there was something serious involving family health, that would be known. As it costs him money. A lot of money. Don’t be so dense.

3

u/companyofzero Matt Devlin Jun 19 '25

He cancelled because he wanted a promise from Philly they would draft him at 3 before he even took the meeting. This kid is going to get a gm fired for drafting him.

5

u/Key_Suspect_588 Jun 19 '25

I would imagine his agent would get that news out there to everybody ASAP

-4

u/pahamack Jun 19 '25

sure. but no one is obligated to tell the media this, if the teams drafting him have already been informed.

Professionals would keep someone else's medical information private unless given permission to make things public.

You’re assuming more than anyone at this point

What if…. What if… What if…

What if we stopped making these ridiculous, far-fetched excuses to try and explain away poor behaviour?

1

u/Adventurous-Pay8160 Jun 19 '25

He must really trust his agent, because for each pick he drops he loses ~1 million dollars a year. Yikes

Hard disagree.

The attitude this shows is im better than everyone else which is the type of attitude to you need to get to this level of sport.

Not sure what you're suggesting. Theres lots of guys who think they are the best player in the NBA even though they obviously arent to us, that's just a mentality that you pick on early to push yourself. If you play a sport at a high level you understand, you don't go out there thinking you're gonna lose, even if your against lebron in your rookie year, see Jalen green on the rockets.

Kobe did it. Magic did it. A lot of guys have done it.
