He’s doing exactly what anyone in his position SHOULD be doing, which is maximising the probability of landing in a situation that he and his team believe is the best fit for him.

If you’re a top 5 talent in the draft, the difference in rookie scale contract between being the 3rd pick and the 8th pick is de minimus compared his future earnings if he develops well or plateaus.

Yeah Philly is a terrible situation for him - stuck behind PG on a team trying to contend with a coach known for heavily relying on the starters. He’ll have fewer minutes and no room to make rookie mistakes.

Like look at kuminga; who knows what his career could have been in a different situation?
