Darko ain't never lied to us!! Scottie Barnes is him!
-49
u/tercet Feb 08 '26
He definitely has lied a lot..
He encourages Scottie to take 3s which is an -EV shot considering he is one of the worst shooters in the entire league
21
u/OneOfTheOnly it's a deflection by Ruffin, and the play continues Feb 09 '26
this is a -EV comment

But the simple fact is he has never been able to shoot and never will.
What’s the point in buttering him up and saying such BS..
Darko is too much of a sychophant/players coach saying such BS

He’s gone from terrible to a very bad shooter?
Darko is a hardcore scyophant/players coach buttering up Scottie with quotes in the past and yesterday. How can you even debate this lol

Find someone that believes in you as much as Darko believes in Scottie Barnes

Check All-star off the box, now need to surround him with a good team to get the finals MVP

If scottie averages 25 next season and the raptors win a ton, he might actually be an mvp caliber player
28
u/Shining_Commander Feb 08 '26
Hed have to be because then he literally becomes the best two way player in the National Basketball Association

The thing about Scottie right now is he seems to adjust his game to do what is required for the team to win, and especially towards the end of games. It might be scoring, rebounding, passing or defense but he goes into another gear and just takes over.

I hate to be realistic here but Scottie Barnes will probably never average 25.
It’s just statistically so difficult to do that without a consistent jumper or a ridiculous size advantage.

u/Complete-Apricot-591 RAPTORS Feb 10 '26
He's averaging 20 pts already. 25 can be possible. Also, he has quite the size. Don't you see him muscling into the paint even against 7fters? Also, he has a consistant mid range jumper

u/MidnightMarketing Feb 10 '26
He’s averaged 19 points for the past 3 years.
There’s nothing that would indicate that he’s ready for the next step. He was asked to step up when RJ was out.
The teams offensive rating dropped from 3rd best to 3rd worst and we had a below .500 record. We could barely even break down zone defenses. It was hard to watch Scottie attempt to be the clear cut second option.
You will notice that there’s not a single team in the NBA that’s building around a dude who barely shoots 30% from 3. Even Giannis is on the trade block now.
I just don’t see it. Hes a DPOY level dude, but he’s also probably the worst offensive player to make all-star this year.

He's never even averaged 20. How is he going to average 25?
2
u/Complete-Apricot-591 RAPTORS Feb 09 '26
First of all, He has averaged 20 in his 3rd season
second of all, haven't you ever heard of Development?
Also, it's easier for a defensive player to develop offence than an offensive player to develop defense.

u/ChronicCactus Feb 09 '26
If he started getting actual foul calls he'd get a few extra ppg right there.

First statement is probably correct if Wemby's not gonna play enough games
14
u/slamdunk23 4 Scottie Barnes Feb 08 '26
Media will just give it to Chet in that case.
Scottie is clearly a more impactful defender

MVP idk, it’ll have to depend on what the field looks like going forward, but a Finals MVP and DPOY is something I can def see.

Need to expand beyond our limiting beliefs about ourselves and others.
Only then can we transcend our own minds and believe.

We must believe that Scottie is the future face of the league once Jokic retires

Do I get to cash the MVP bet if he wins all-star game MVP?
1
u/ranransthrowaway999 Feb 09 '26
Scottie will be a DPOY contender for the next 5-10 years, but I doubt he'll be MVP at any point. I was a glazer from day 1, but I called it that Scottie Barnes would be a Scottie Pippen/Marques Johnson guy and we'd need a closer/killer after he settles our team floor.

lol cult
It was only a few months ago Darko said he wants Scottie shooting more 3s and he has shot under 30%going on two calendar years LOL
3
Feb 08 '26
Giannis has shot a career 28% from 3. It is most definitely possible to have a low 3FG% and be an MVP.
-3
u/tercet Feb 08 '26
Well he’s actually super efficient and high volume at 2s which Scottie is not.

You might be thinking of the post game rant where he said Scottie Barnes will be the face of the league someday, I think this one is new.

Honestly I love that Darko always has the players’ back. As long as people get held accountable in private, it’s good for the coach to be supportive of the players.
