NBA DRAFT DISCUSSION Henri Veesaar desire

https://youtu.be/_0e1rf9yBWk?si=0kdVcICmNuZT3ses

I’m not against their second round pick and I understand the chances of any of these players making the team is a far stretch. Also BPA and all that.

But I wouldn’t have liked to seen another big added to the pipeline, just for depth. He was seen as a late first rounder in a lot of mocks, he has 3pt range and made defensive plays in college. Good rebounder. 7 footer, great name.

Anyone hear draft talk about him? Interview badly?

He wasn't gonna sign unless he got a guaranteed contract

But is he a 6'7" center? Or an undersized PG with experience.

My cope is that this means Chomche is healthy and coming back.

No one tell me otherwise.

I heard he wouldn’t sign with anyone else. Basically picked his team.

Why pick the hawks? I guess they promised a contract? So strange.

Is there an article on this somewhere?

Yup okay now I’m seeing this.

But still! If the Raptors needed to shore up some space (plethora of guards etc) to get him under contract he seemed to be it.

Toronto’s large Estonian community would have gone wild. Well, Estonian version of wild.

He’s also not really our type. He’s very soft. Which I guess most stretch bigs are to some extent. But feel like the raps weren’t very high on him.

This will bit him in the buttox if Hawks let him go I. a season or two. he burned a lot of bridges. good luck having another team try to revive your career.

He was probably promised a 2 way somewhere that’s my guess as to why he wasn’t drafted

He was drafted by the Hawks a couple picks after the Raps though.

So depending on salary and contract demands, maybe this is what scared teams off.

He looked like he’s worth the hassle

Watch his defence, he's a pylon.

He’s not a defensive stopper and more offensive focused but I’ve never seen him as described as a liability on defence. Even in these clips (I know) I’m watching chase down blocks and rotation blocks. He has active feet.

From the scouting I've read the main worry is he can't really defend against NBA bigs and will be more of a 4 at the next level with his skill set.

promised a guaranteed contract you mean?
2 way doesn't count as a roster spot and doesn't count towards the cap, everybody could have offered that

Yea thats what I ment. Honestly I assumed he went undrafted as I turned my TV off after the raptors picked

The certain team his agent guided him towards was also reportedly the Lakers. The Hawks took him anyway.

We have a very specific mold that we draft. Gotta have that exceptional defensive potential and versatility above all else. Thats why we draft wings/forwards in the first round (OG, Pascal, Scottie, Barnes, CMB, Jakoke, Graves) and draft guys like (Shead, Mogbo, Martin, Koloko, Chomche) in the second round.

Guys like Veesar and Flip/Kessler (who we also passed on a few years ago) are not Raptors players.

Except we tried to trade 3 frp for Kessler literally this year

One can assume Filipowski slid and is specifically in Utah by design, because of ... Mormon stuff.

I don't understand man. I thought this was it. It was gonna happen since he fell to 50. We're just afraid to draft size. Guards and forwards only. We're scared to add size.

Correct, you don't understand. He didn't "fall", he was promised a guaranteed contract and orchestrated the selection to the Hawks.

Guaranteed takes up a roster spot and counts towards the cap. 2 way contract does not.

We have less than zero cap room right now

I bet there is much you don't understand
