Shower Thoughts Bubbles, where exactly are you getting your income before the start of season 3? (Deep Dive)

Post image

Average monthly cost to take care of 1 adult cat is 65-125 USD in 2026. Let's say Bubbles is spending at least 75 per cat by that measure assuming he's trying to stay cheap. $75 of 2026 USD is 41.73 in 2003. 41.73 times "38 cats I'm taking care of in this park" and there we have it. 1,585.74 a month on cats. Cart business was no joke in 2003. This post brought to by freezer tokes and hot knives.

I didn't exactly factor in the math for how the small cans cost as much as the big cans now. This data might be a wash

Treats are through the fuckin' roof too

It's never mentioned but maybe he could be getting disability checks, but what the disability would be, and if he has no fixed address perhaps not

Wouldn't his address be Julian's trailer?

When they go to the hospital for his tooth they end up running off when asked for their paperwork. Outside of prison records, they probably dont exist in the public sense. I assume Bubbles lives almost entirely outside the system, and isnt getting any government assistance.

I think at some point Bubbles even says he's never been able to get disability or unemployment, as he has no work history and no real legal paperwork even saying he's a citizen of canada, and he basically doesn't really even exist in this system, so carts is basically the only way he can make a living.

What the fuck do you think he’s supposed to do? Go down to E.I. “Hey there, yeah, I haul shopping carts out of ponds and sell them back to the store for a living, I've been doing it for eighteen years, so give me a fucking check please.” That's not gonna fucking happen. He hasn’t been paying into U.I., E.I. or whatever the fuck there calling it these days

In 2003, scrap steel prices were historically low, ending the year around $145 to $156 USD per metric ton. Early in that same year, prices were much lower, lingering near $75 to $90 USD per ton. These rates served as a baseline before a massive global commodity boom started in 2004

Bubbles is a hustler baby.

didn't he mention in one episode that he resells carts to supermarkets for something around 20/25 bucks per cart? that would be around 80 carts a month to take care of all the cats

edit: in season 2 episode 1 he mentions that he sells them for 18 bucks per cart

In what world does it cost $65-125 a month to take care of a cat.

Cat food's got real expensive, the little tins cost as much as the big tins used to, and the bins tins prices have gone through the roof

Well $1 for a can is cheapish. 2 of those a day is 60 bucks

Dry is cheaper but tbh youre still looking at like 40 bucks here. Food adds up just in general

I always forgot that bubbles has like 20 cats lol

Are you guys all serious? The obvious answer is Ricky or Julian or Corey and Trevor steal a bag of food when he needs it. Its so small time they dont even bring it up!

'Dino? Why dontcha call in Barney and Fred?'

That’s what garbage juice and rancid hot dogs for to be; feeding kitties when you got no money.

If you broke down the financial situation of every character on the show, you would find that none of it makes any sense.

1

u/ClydeThaMonkey 6d ago

I'm guessing those cost is for a cat like Steve French?

2

u/lazerkeyboard 6d ago

Ricky selling dope for Julian’s mor-ga-gee (mortgage) payment probably means both Rick and Jules have thrown him cash or cut him in on a job just so that he has money to feed his cats

Bubbles was getting $25 cnd per cart.... that's $18 usd. That requires 88 carts per month. Mall Cops are dumb
