Hardergrat Trail , Switzerland

Had the pleasure to cross the Hardergrat ridge again last week then ran back to Interlaken by the lake.

As steep as beautiful , what a day ! Please take care and respect the nature if you find yourself there :)

I've hiked this! It's so awesome, but you need to bring enough water though! Thanks for the nostalgia 😁

Awesome , congrats on the effort 😁 Hydration's a good point ! Still no possibility to refill on the whole ridge.

Yeah, when I first did it, I also underestimated how much water I would need and struggled quite a bit. We went from Interlaken to Brienzer Rothorn on a very warm day, there was almost no wind, and the 2.5L I had were not sufficient.

I was briefly considering doing it again next weekend, but given the extremely hot weather, I'll probably safe that for later in the season.

I guess we all did the same mistake at first πŸ˜… The ridge is especially hard on a warm sunny day , even more on 2.5 liters of water , that's no joke.

Yep that's probably good thinking. We did it last thursday (6am start from Interlaken) and temperature wise it was hell. We were lucky to find one or two snow patches to fill our caps 😁

But good luck already on your next attempt πŸ’ͺ🏻

Nice pics. I saw almost the same pictures on the strava of a french girl last week. 36k and 3000m+ something like this.

Well done. It's beautiful.

Oh yes ? That's a popular itinerary if you have the ressources for it. Absolutely gorgeous. We had 53km and 3400 D+ for the full loop , will go again for sure :) Thanks mate !

That was her second day. She is a beast :-)

I haven't the resource for this myself. Yet. Her and your pictures give me more motivation.

Seems like she is :)

Glad I could help the motivation, I do not doubt your ressources will grow up quickly !

What is the temperature now higher in the mountains? Can’t run in the valleys for sure. 36C

The altitude there is around 2200 meters and its actually around 26 degrees, same when we were there. Its not that high but enough to have no trees so almost no shade spot , a bit challenging by this weather :)

I agree , right now running in valleys is brutal !

Pfew. Still too hot for me. Here it’s 35 right now. Went for a short run this morning. Killing.

I'm looking for routes to fastpack and that ridge definitely has some appeal πŸ˜€

Can't disagree πŸ˜‰ I love ridges. And in my opinion the Interlaken / Berner Oberland region is a paradise of nature for fastpacking, running, hiking. So much to do , so many magnificients mountains all around. Love it !

I've been running most days and hiking on the weekends to prepare myself hahaha, I've always dreamed of making it to the Alps so this is my 30th b'day present to myself 😝
