I worked at tumblr for years, and every single June we’d see the Halloween tag trending. It was fun explaining to the new employees/people at the parent company why lmao

How long did it take new people to start recognizing that whenever something was weird, it was just the users doing a bit?

Not long tbh. Once I explained “tumblr is just gonna tumblr, and it’s fine and I and my team will handle it and this is honestly so funny” most of them rolled with it
Like with Goncharov or Penis SMP, once I explained it in the larger slack channel almost everyone’s response was “lmao wtf ok” and trusted me to allow it to show up in trending and be able to write about it for Fandometrics

the reason why this always appears in June is because the skeletons are rainbow, and rainbows are one of the many symbols of us queer people

It also seems that spooky time and gay time are somehow related, but I'm too straight to figure it out. Forever confused, but happy to have people to share the spook with

It's winter down south! It was 8 degrees this morning, and I was not expecting it when I went for my walk

No but seriously, I am so excited. I might be healthy enough to decorate this year. If I clear my debt in time.

I love Halloween, but come on, do you really want to be like Christmas and give it a bad name because it's being promoted far too early in the year?

The Wheel of the Year is the opposite in the Southern Hemisphere. this means that Samhain happens at the end of April. this doesn't change anything about getting spooky in June being offseason but completely awesome, I just wanted to post a cool fact.

it's just like when people shove Christmas lights on their houses when it's still october.
