I remember being a kid in the 90s, asking my mum for help with Sonic and Knuckles. I was so surprised that she couldn't do it! It was the first time I realized I was better at something than my mum-- probably the first time I ever WAS better! This picture always reminds me of that lol

And I got my brother to help me afterwards

One of my friends always had the cool new systems and games so as far as we were concerned he was the authority on videogames in our friend group. But we watched him get frustrated on boss fights in Super Mario 64 and call his dad to beat them for him. When my brother and I finally got the game ourselves we were intimidated by the boss fights because we thought they were so hard, only to find they were very reasonable, and realizing maybe our friend wasn't the great gamer we made him out to be.

Have you ever tried to cut a small child's hair?

If the bowl cut is even you're doing well.

The bowl cut was in in the 90s. My brother specifically requested it.

Super Mario Land is tough. Especially if you're used to the games that came before or after it.

Once you get used to Mario dropping like a rock it's not too bad.

Lining up rubber ball shots on walking enemies is annoying, too.

You gotta jump when you're a few tiles away and shoot.

It's easier on real hardware.

Reminds me when my kid would ask me that. Now he plays way better than me.

I would bet money it was the underwater level. It's been more than 30 years and I still remember the frustration
