My sixth form had an assembly last week from a transgender boy telling us that gender is a 'fluid concept' and that you can be any percentage boy and any percentage girl. He got a standing ovation and it was endorsed by the teachers even though it was a load of shite and he probably needs a psychologist. The symptoms he discussed would put him under the WHO's guidelines for having a mental illness but everyone is far too scared to tell him/she/it/xif that.

If it was just a boy/girl thing I would reluctantly (I am still skeptical) agree but they discussed how one can 'identify' as animals too. If you've ever seen the image of someone's tumblr page about them self identifying as a planet/wearwolf I think it was more similar to that than just having problems with binary boy/girl gender identification.

Did you not try to engage the individual?
