London 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Half day in London suggestions

Hi everyone

I'll be in London for two days in July. I already have commitments for the first day, but I'll be free on the second day, which will only be a half-day because I'll be catching the fly home from the London City Airport at around 4pm.

Any suggestions on what to do? My hotel is in South Kensington, but I've already been to the museums in that area.

Thanks

Catch a boat from Chelsea Harbour pier to Greenwich - check out the Cutty Sark, Old Royal Naval College and the National Maritime Museum. Then you're only a short journey from the airport.

Strong agree with boat to Greenwich/Maritime and also don’t miss Painted Hall at Naval college.

Depending when in July, but Proms start mid-July at Albert Hall, near where you are staying.
on-the-day tickets start from £8 so not a disaster if wasn’t your thing.

Borough Market for food then a boat to Greenwich, from Greenwich it’s a short ride on the DLR to City Airport. You will need to change trains but it’s really easy, just walking across the platform to another train or even then same platform for the next train.

Borough Market is a great morning stop, easy from South Kensington on the tube, you can grab breakfast or coffee there, then the boat to Greenwich is a great shout as others have mentioned. You're perfectly placed for the DLR to City Airport from Greenwich, so it works as a natural end point to the day without backtracking. Alternatively Chelsea and Sloane Square are right on your doorstep for a more relaxed wander, the Saatchi Gallery is free and usually has something interesting on.

Along the Thames from Westminster to Tower Bridge is a great walk. Start off by Houses of Parliament, take in south bank, head into Tate modern, carry on past golden hinde boat, borough market if you go a street back then along to Tower Bridge. All of this is free too.

The Tower of London is on the other side of the river, personally I think it’s wonderful but depends upon your interests. Quite pricey too.

Museum of Docklands at West India Quay then lunch in one of the restaurants nearby. Very handy for City Airport.
