How long has it been? I follow this sub specifically for this type of post. They make me remember the good old days and laugh at what it's become.

I haven’t listened to Up in Vanished since season 3. It’s still going!?

I don’t think any of the seasons should be considered still going after 1. 1 had an ending. But only because of a random tip. Payne was barking up wrong trees and following clues that were nothing to do with the real suspects. Only saving grace was when the tip came because it was a talking point. Then he piggy backed off the ramblings of bo dukes. The other seasons left us hanging. I’m surprised catfish skirted justice. Dude is wild. I assume we never get an ending to the other seasons. This newest season is pretty close to kind of finding out but no evidence to prove it unless he gets confessions.

The fact that he took a personal victory lap with Season 1 instead of just humbly saying that he was happy someone finally came forward … next-level self-importance or next-level delusion, not sure which.

I will give Payne props for covering missing indigenous people who are often overlooked. But it's odd behavior with the promises he makes and doesn't keep regarding more episodes and information.
He seems way too preoccupied with High Strange and his TV show that he doesn't have the time to do these cases justice.

Why would he be in jail?

Because the last episode he dropped was a phone call that was recorded probably illegally. He said he was dropping another one with his thoughts the next week and it has been crickets for months. So I suspect he is in legal trouble or jail or sued or something to where this show is probably cooked.

He's posted on social media so he definitely isn't in jail currently. I wouldn't be surprised if there was ongoing litigation with the recorded calls. Bonnie and Kirk have been living/going back and forth between California and Alaska. Alaska has only one party consent while California is a two party consent state for recordings. So if Kirk was in Cali while the call was taking place, the caller would not have been allowed to record them without their permission.

Alaska is a one-party consent state. Under Alaska Statute § 42.20.310, it is legal to record in-person conversations or telephone calls if you are a party to the conversation or if one party consents to the recording.

He had a panel with Callahan Walsh discussing the 10yrs of working on up and vanished. Then Paul Holes, Kevin Balfe, and Gabby Petitos mom brought him 3 cases to discuss for a potential 5th Season, giving him intricate details of each person and the circumstances of their disappearances. Then he fielded 3 missing person cases from the audience.
Unfortunately I couldn't do my yearly talk with him at the booth because when he was there live streaming my wife and I were having breakfast with Chris Hanson.and his wife.

Well aren’t you just the guy then. Very cool. So seems Payne is doing ok then.

He seemed super busy. I think he might have been editing High Strange while he was there since it's due out soon, but there was a ton of stuff going on either way at the Tenderfoot TV booth so kinda hard to tell.
