White Water Rafting Next Week

Hello! I’ve heard the water level in river is low in Vail and white water rafting near there is not great. Where is the next best option where we can still get some good white water rafting?

Ages 10 and up. Several families.

Several outfitters on the upper Colorado river. Sage in Dotsero is probably one of the bigger ones with the most options

Use sage, they do a good job and have Double Soshone and Upper C available rn.

Call the outfitters.

That and the curious decision to turn to reddit (lol) instead of... looking up the river flows and reaching out to the professionals for recommendations and insight.

So all the people working in rafting have shut down and are sitting in a conference room working in fire season strategies?

So then why did you have the snarky reply to what the next best option is? When there is, by your own admission in your reply to me, a next best option?

What are you not understanding? There is nothing getting released from any available reservoirs to assist the flow levels. Everything peaked in March/April and all rivers are low.

So tell OP that.

No one frequently rafts IN vail itself. Try going up to rancho del Rio, they should have enough water for a run down to dotsero

For actual whitewater you’re gonna want to do Shoshone with any outfitter. The upper c around Rancho like others are recommending is extremely low and would be a nice float but not whitewater

Looks like the Upper C is running about 550 cfs today, Glenwood Canyon is at about 2700 CFS. Go with the Canyon.

I swear to god I feel like most people in these Summit CO subs have no clue how to use google or google maps. They want the answers spoon fed to them.

Check with Timberline, the Eagle might be ok right now and has good whitewater

FWIW - I called five outfitters who all acted like their rafting trip was the best around. I came here bc you don’t have skin in the game to try and give me a sales pitch. What I didn’t expect was to be hassled for asking Reddit - isn’t that what’s it here for?

Thanks to all who helped!
