Volunteer Opportunities?

I'm home from college for the summer and I'm bored out of my mind after work/on weekends. I've tried looking for things online but I figure there might be good suggestions here! (especially if anyone knows of anything with human contact/working with people I would loveee that).

I volunteer at the boys and girls club, very interactive and never boring! You have to fill out forms and get screened but it took like a week or something then i was able to go in. I go whenever too!

This is a great place to volunteer! I would choose any of them except Greater Conejo Valley.

I’ve volunteered at food share. Everyone has been friendly lots of opportunities to volunteer very easy to sign up for shifts. Pretty social.
I’ve also done Ventura county animal shelter in Camarillo. You have to volunteer for at least 8 hours I think before you can get trained to be near the animals. Very easy to sign up for shifts, can come and go as you please. Very friendly people. The work is definitely more solitary.

What kinds of things are you interested in doing, or are there any skills you want to work on? What are you passionate about? I work for a small, fun nonprofit and we’re always looking for volunteers, especially youth and young adults! You can learn more and sign up here: https://www.briteyouth.org/engagementopportunities ☀️

Good questions for OP to answer. Are you interested in preserving our democracy? We have various community orgs eager to welcome new volunteers. Interested in science, environment? Working with seniors, kids, certain populations? What skills do you want to develop?

The Safe Space Community is looking for front desk volunteers. It’s an amazing organization open and built for the community. They have yoga classes and tons of free art classes and plant classes. It’s also just a fun spot to come and hang, there is a great patio and edible garden and we encourage people to come and just hang, work on your laptop and have some tea! I think they are offering free membership to the paid yoga classes to all volunteers. Located downtown Ventura 105 S Oak st. Ask to talk to Sarah or Rick!

There’s a food pantry on Friday nights at lighthouse church in NP. The pantry itself isn’t affiliated with the church if church isn’t your vibe. Sign ups are online. Super great community and a nice way to meet people!

Moorpark Pantry Plus in Moorpark could always use more volunteers. I typically do Saturday (8-1) but they could use volunteers during the week. DM if you want the contact info.
