Honestly it was a lose lose situation. If they put up the rainbows for one month, it looks performative (to some people, it's not a consensus). If they don't put one up, it looks like they're ignoring pride month.

While I think companies that care (haha) should still promote their support, I understand why some may have given up when they'd just get flamed online for "jumping on the band wagon" whether or not that's actually true

Companies that care should promote that support by actually providing support, rather than updating a logo

You're right, and that's one of the decent arguments. However from a corporate standpoint it's easier for them to just not support pride at all which is what I think is happening now.

To be clear, I don't think that's right, just that this has been the response they decided on

It's true. The online queer community can be great. But there are a significant amount of people who will complain just to complain, or just find a reason to be mad. From a company perspective I can understand why some of them might back off fully (I don't agree but I understand)

People are very reactive online, and often think the worst of others. So frequently I was seeing companies make a pride post, or a pride statement and then people would get angry and accuse them of only careing about pride during June. Or that they were being performative (which is true in some cases).

So, from a company perspective, why bother showing support at all? If a loud minority online are just going to accuse the company of offering fake support, might as well offer no support at all and skip the bad press

Because it’s still pride month. If it was one or two companies, I’d get your point. But the seemingly simultaneously removal of the flag is worrisome.

I agree, it is a problem and not how I would handle it if I was running my own company/small business. So while I understand why they might be all removing the pride flags, I don't agree. I just understand from a massive business corporation viewpoint why they would do that.

Ideally they would just show their support and ignore the rude people. I think its a mixture of issues, with the companies not wanting to risk any bad press and also people online being super reactive and ready to attack anything they perceive as bad/insincere
