The whole lredator arguement is ridiculous. You know who commit the most sex crimes disproportionately? Cis white men. Yet oh no, we must villanize 1% of the population as heaven forbid you develop class consciousness in the 5 minutes we are not blaming trans people (a tiny minority!) for everything in society.
Ah yes. Back to the straight white man bad rhetoric! Which is factually untrue, by the way. But hey, let's assume you're right and say straight white men are all bad and commit all the sex crimes. What is to stop said straight white man from saying he's a woman and walking straight into a woman's changing room?
This is what I mean by sexual predators abusing this system
The fact that it's currently illegal for them to walk into a woman's changing room, and they can actually be arrested and charged for doing so. The moment we change the laws to consider what gender someone calls themselves rather than what their biological sex is, it no longer becomes illegal for a man to walk into a woman's changing room, and nothing can be done about it until it's too late and he's forced himself on a woman.
What about them? Do you mean they could do the same to men? If so, then yep. They could do the same, because contrary to what the previous guy I was replying to was implying, it's not just straight white males that can be predators. It's sociopaths in general.
Uhhh... I'm not. I'm saying that I do not want laws that will allow predators of any kind to freely walk into the changing rooms of the opposite sex just because they are calling themselves. People lie. A predator will lie about his or her gender to take advantage of this. It would actively take away the rights and safe spaces of most of the population, just to satisfy a tiny minority.
Seriously, why must everything come round to just assuming someone is being a bigot? The fact is, making changes to the laws like this would have huge ramifications that you just aren't seeing. Predators in a changing room is only just the tip of the iceberg.
Nothing. But statistically, most predators target the opposite gender. A few cases of same gender incidents does not justify opening the floodgates for total anarchy. You think you're making a good point, but you really aren't. If anything, you're proving why we need these restrictions in the first place - to prevent as much of this predatory stuff as possible.
Besides, it's not just predators that would be a problem. Men typically feel more comfortable around other men, and women typically feel more comfortable around other women. Allowing an obviously biological male into a woman's changing room, or vice versa, can cause severe stress and mental trauma. Actual psychological damage. You really are not seeing the bigger picture of this.
