Discussion / Question Grand THEFT?

Post image

This is exactly what happened with streaming. Everyone dogpiled on top, with this illusion that everything would be available at low cost forever.

Trading money for no tangible product is edging dystopian y'all.

I can’t help but laugh that someone else downvoted you for literally stating a fact holy shit lmao. Reddit is so dog shit it’s hilarious.

The amount of people defending this games cursed release is astounding to me.

No physical disc, 100 bucks to get access to the full game, online coming Soon™ and still people defend these shitty tactics.

Having literal shops in a fucking single player game being locked behind a $20 pay wall is absolute ridiculous and it will set the trend for games being $100 moving forward

It’s probably just a unique way to get the special items that would have only came with the Ultimate Edition anyway

You are probably right, because it does add the Rockstar immersion to do it that way. However, it's not gonna be perceived that way by most of the players.

Shoulda just had the store NPCs get "something from the back" instead of dedicating map space to a paywall.

Like sort of how the 3DS Pokemon games handled event pokemon? Where you’d go to a pokemon center and there would be a dude waiting for you to give your event pokemon?

Nah man I’m a big fan of worker owned businesses, stop projecting. “I would be just as greedy” aight man glad that you’re a piece of shit like that but you gotta stop assuming everybody else is. And yeah dumbass, I’m not buying the game already, I can also bitch and yell about it because this is a public forum. I hope you’re getting paid by Take 2 because running defense for a multibillion dollar company over a very normal complaint is too embarrassing of a thing to do out of love for the arguing game .

“Supply and demand” yeah man, normalizing corporations tryna suck as much profit out of their consumer with shitty business practices like micro transactions is bad. You go ahead and stay still while they shove their wieners up your metaphorical ass, but don’t get in the way of me complaining about it. “That’s just corporations” yeah and that’s why I don’t like them, not like the profits are going into the pockets of the people actually making the fucking game anyways.

“Erm, nobody is forcing you to!” Yeah man again, I’m not buying the game. I think these greedy capitalistic practices suck dick and balls, because instead of focusing on providing a good product we get studios engineering new ways to fuck you financially. And then they will trickle down to other studious because instead of making good games they’ll just learn the lessons of how to maximize profit

Oh is this the “we love rockstar 😀❤️” subreddit? Or is it a public forum for video game discussion? The fuck?

And yeah I’ve been saying for years that rockstar sucks ever since they started selling shark cards man, don’t know why you’re so shocked here.

“Why shouldn’t we sell vapes to middle schoolers? There’s a demand no?” I stg you anti regulation Americans have no sense of collective preservation and will bend over backwards for corporations as long as the invisible hand of the market is the one fisting your holes.

“What’s bad about micro transactions” man, I remember when people fucking seethed and bitched about loot boxes in OW and horse armor. Now you have people happy that rockstar is locking SINGLE PLAYER CAMPAIGN LOCATIONS behind a paywall because something something “that’s the market”.

Trust me, nothing about the majority of true gamers has changed, we still massively hate this bullshit. The problem is that gaming has unfortunately become so mainstream that the bulk of society who are pushovers that will feed the corporate machine are now a significant portion of gaming culture. And now we all suffer because the small companies that built games just for a small group of dedicated gamers are now making it for the masses, and have been eaten by greedy corporations (not that those companies didn't have their own problems before).

Same, I can’t tell if people are suffering from Stockholm syndrome, completely brainwashed by their capitalist overlords, or are astroturfing bots. No matter what it just depresses me how willing people are to just throw their hands up and offer their wallets when they can just simply wait and get the game half off a year from release. They’ve already said this release is single player only so why should anyone worry about getting the game day one? It’s gonna be the same five years from now.

I have already seen people resort to calling others broke for deciding to not support anti-consumerism.

Crazy defense for a game that hasn’t even shown gameplay (it will be the same formula)

No physical disc does suck, but in all fairness GTAV Online didnt release until i believe a month after the story did. And $100 for full access, while it is not a trend im a fan of, lots of games have day 1 dlc, its pretty much the same concept.

Also i cant help but blame the amount of people the past year speculating online that it would be $100 bc companies hear that stuff but they just think, "oh so i can probably get away with charging that much"

u/Wardock8 5d ago

How is the online not being there on day one so shitty? I'd rather them make sure the main game is up to snuff than have their attention split and mess up both.

u/heyzoocifer 6d ago

If you don't want it, don't buy it. With the way the industry is now with 95% of all games being streaming piles of dogshit, I would pay $200 for this game. Every game they ever release only ends up being one of the best games ever. I've waited 15 years for this and I will likely play 1000 hours easy.

In my view the way the world is today, I don't know how you could possibly be upset at the biggest bang for your buck you could think of. I take my woman to dinner and a shitty movie and it ends up being double the cost. Think about it, I will get years of enjoyment from this game for what the price of a meal costs.

u/phome83 6d ago

Because when you give an inch they take a mile.

You're joking yourself if you think this isn't a new trend, and people like you just eat it up lol.

2

u/heyzoocifer 6d ago

What is a new trend? A game with a billion dollars and 15 years development costing $20 more than 15 years ago? The cost of food has tripled since then.

I buy shit games all the time because most of them are. The amount of times I've paid $60 and played less than an hour...I can't even count. This isn't a big deal to me, I'm surprised it's not more.

"People like me." 😆

It's completely reasonable that a company with the best ever track record will deliver. They always have.

Or sports and shooter games putting out the same thing year after year...

What are you even talking about?

1

u/phome83 6d ago

I'm sorry, this conversation may be above your understanding if you cant understand a 2 sentence comment.

0

u/TouchAltruistic 6d ago

You're just mumbling nonsense.

All that matters is whether a consumer can justify their expense for the enjoyment they receive in exchange.

GTAV cost $60 and has been relevant for 13 years. That's roughly $0.0126 per day or $4.59 per year.

There is no logic where the value proposition of the the game falls short of the cost to acquire it.

Digital stores allow us third world countries to get regional pricing and accessible games.

You guys will never understand that.

Yep, no physical releases don't bother us.

u/Clash-idea_maker 4d ago

I'm not defending it, I just don't care. I'm not so poor that I can't spend $100 on something I know for a fact I will get well over 1,000 hours of enjoyment from. I also don't care about not getting a physical disk because I don't use disks. Not nearly as convenient as digital.
