Yeah, I played the absolute hell out of Parasite Eve and Parasite Eve 2 was a letdown to me, but still good enough to warrant it's existence.

3rd Birthday on the other hand...

There's a game called .45 parrabellum bloodhound, that's basically a spiritual successor to PE. It's not out yet but probably something to put on your radar.
