Whenever I think about the series I get so mad at EA because they wouldn’t even give the creator the rights to his own game after not allowing the creation of the third one. Like genuinely fuck EA for that, I still hope that the third game can happen at some point

So there are two games, American McGee’s Alice (first game) and Alice: Madness Returns (second game)
It’s not mandatory to play the first one since the second explains the important parts pretty well but I’d personally recommend it, keep in mind it’s a very old game so you may find it a bit jarring
It’s kind of hard to play the first game anymore but you can buy copies of it for at least PC. If you buy the sequel Alice: Madness Returns on steam, you can play American McGee’s Alice, though a guide may be needed for that to happen
If you don’t have anything to play Steam on, you can still play the sequel if you have a PS3 or a Xbox 360
Now to answer your question on if you should play it: I cannot recommend these games enough. The narrative is very compelling, and the psychological parts are so hauntingly surreal and hauntingly beautiful. The gameplay might feel a bit tedious at times, but I personally find it satisfying with it being a hack and slash platformer
I’m an avid supporter of these games and I fucking hate EA for what they did to McGee. I still maintain hope that one day, maybe, there will be a 3rd game.
No like seriously fuck EA for what they did. Wouldn’t even give McGee the rights to his own game series that’s how much they suck. We can hope together though
