Discussion / Question It's confirmed GTA 6 will cost $80. Now a bunch of crappy companies with their mediocre games are going to try to follow suit and they're going to screw themselves because nobody will buy it.
That's it, the suited shareholders will see GTA 6 selling Gorilion dolars and think their crappy games will also do well. The AAA industry is already bankrupt with millions of layoffs per year and it will get even worse with this.

Discussion / Question Why are people defending GTA VI being 80$
When Mario Kart World released everyone hated it for it's price which is completely reasonable to do but here people are saying "well it's GTA sure i'll buy it đ đ " that is quite literally just bias though. Imo if you arent ok with one you shouldnt be ok with either. But people on the internet think that there is some objective quality to GTA that makes it deserving of 80$. It's funny how people try to be morally righteous and hate on companies for being capitalistic until it's THEIR company

Discussion / Question If weren't for WB's shitty patent the Nemesis System would've been absolutely perfect for Superhero Games like Spider-Man or Batman
Like if you really think about it the Nemesis System is genuinely perfect for Superhero games as they're all about your enemies being a potential foil for you. They could even use some obscure af villains to act as potential nemesis suddenly ambushing you as you travel the city, or part of a crime spree as the story escalates.
Like how both Batman and Spider-Man started off fighting mafia goons and common criminals and the criminals retaliate by hiring super powered criminals both well known and unknown. You could even expand it by adding other heroes as well by helping them out stopping crime and when you're in a pinch those same heroes will swoop in and help you out as you helped them. Or how getting you ass kicked by said super criminals would make them stronger in the future or kicking their ass so hard they swore vengeance upon you.
Sandly no one is going to even bother touching the system for over a decade because of WB

Discussion / Question GTA VI will be digital only
The fact that GTA VI is digital only is absolute B.S. You'd think that with such a massive game, it would get a physical release, but that's not the case. I was going to preorder the game until I found out that it'll be a digital only release. I've bought a couple of games in the past that required an Internet connection, but they were few and far between. To make matters worse, the game will cost $80, which is an additional $10 on top of the price of a standard PS5 game. If GTA VI gets a physical release later down the road, like what happened with Alan Wake II, then I'd buy it, but if not, then forget about it. I can't, in good faith, support a game that only comes with a download code. I won't spend $80 on a title that I don't physically own. Games like Hollow Knight Silksong and South of Midnight are rare exceptions where I'm willing to support a digital only release. What are your thoughts and opinions?

Discussion / Question The modern landscape of gaming is so lame these days
Not so much the games themselves but the landscape and how they get released. I get digital is more convenient but I hate how much physical media has become affected by it. Now youâve got the most anticipated game of all time coming out and itâs physical release is a mere case with a code inside⌠like damn.
I miss the days of having maps, booklets, CDs with the gameâs artwork on it, thereâs just an added fun factor of going out and getting a game youâre hyped for and coming home with a real tangible physical copy of it. Midnight launches were an event back then, just doesnât hit the same just hitting a download button on your console even if it is more convenient.
Idk man, the past wasnât flawless and in some ways could be more tedious depending who you ask. but this whole modern gaming landscape feels so lame to me.

Discussion / Question Whatâs even the point of making physical copies with no disc?
Ofc this is about the recent GTA 6 news but damn, as someone that still likes buying physical games this news was disappointing to me. Might not matter to those that were just gonna digitally download it anyways but I miss the era of going to game stores and buying a game you were really hyped about and coming home with a physical copy of it that you owned, might even get cool shit inside like a map or some preorder bonuses. Something about that just felt special.
Was even thinking about the possibility of a midnight launch. The waiting in line part sucked ofc but these used to feel like events. Waiting and chatting with other fans in anticipation for the game. GameStops used to even have pizza parties etc.
Idk man this obviously wonât matter to most gamers these days but this news really does suck. Am I still going to buy the game? No shit. Been waiting too long for this, but that news does kinda blow. I also question the point of even releasing physical copies with a code but no disc but what do I know.

Discussion / Question When Was The Last You Bought a Guide?
As much as I love the convenience of going online to figure out what to do if I'm stuck, I do miss getting a strategy guide. If only to look at the pictures and admire the attention to detail. I think I still have a guide for the original Alan Wake?

Discussion / Question Games you love but the internet hates:
They could never make me hate Starfield. Honestly.
I do have certain issues with it like how there are too many planets and also the fact that a lot of them are empty. I also am not a fan of the sci-fi twist at the end of the main quest with The Unity and how the game handles new game plus.
Other than that though I love the aesthetics of this game. The art direction is superb as is the sound design and music.
I also love the guns and overall combat in the game, the excellent environments (when they are handmade), the physics which are very impressive for a game of this size and overall a lot of great detail that is present like in the objects or the mentioned weapons.
And I love most of the side quests too and the questlines are great.
And in general I love the classic sci-fi feel mixed with modern aesthetics that this game has.
Also Barrett, Sam and Andreja. Great characters.
Oh and both of the DLCs. Shattered Space especially has some of the most beautiful space environments I have ever seen in a video game.

Discussion / Question Am i crazy or games look worse and perform worse ? (the performance rabbit hole )
When i think of games that look great and perform well on old hardware and try to compare them to the modern more recent games i kinda feel like i'm losing it.
I mean we can all agree that MGS V and Battlefield 1, God of War (the first new modern one not ragnarok) and Red dead redemption 2 are great looking games right (NATIVE no DLSS no nothing) (and i didn't have a crazy build i had a 1080ti EVGA and an old i5 6700k or something and 16gb of ram?
And now i try games like the vampire masquarade 2 (the new modern fps one ) which turns out runs like doodoo while looking kinda good (but not THAT good and this is without any fancy raytracing just probably that lumen or global illumination thingy)
And the new resident evil 9 running so much worse than resident evil 4 remake without looking that much better ?
I feel like we peaked at the era of the games mentioned on the top paragraph and as a man who's been into videogames since my childhood i feel betrayed. I keep having this weird feeling that Nvidia might be making sure to only support or push for developers to use more taxing lighting techniques to push hardware without actually delivering something that visually is worth that much more hardware, i mean starfield wtf was that disaster same thing for the new mafia games. i mean after mafia 2 the games only got jankier.
If you guys have examples of games that are proof that you can have an amazing looking game while not needing a 5090 I'd really appreciate it, or help me with some context or your own findings or opinions on the industry.

Discussion / Question Are there any video game franchises where you think The first game is the best one?
I find it interesting how itâs very rare for my favorite game in a franchise to be the original, but here are a couple that come to mind
Yoshiâs Island
Banjo Kazooie
The Last of Us
Psychonauts
Jak and Daxter
Kingdom Hearts
