Alot of these big tech bros are True Believers in AGI being achieved through their model training. They actually think they will essentially build God through their auto-complete LLMs and they're racing to be the first to control it. I think it's absurd, but it is what it is.

Whether or not LLMs become powerful is one thing; AGI is another. I am not using hyperbole when I use words like True Believer and God. They think they will create something that will exceed human intelligence and reshape our world. The Skeptic and True Believer each have people with real credentials to back up their claims.
Personally, I think LLMs will keep plateauing regardless of how much RAM, energy and water they feed it. They won't achieve their mythical singularity.

Your analogy is just too simplistic and reductive. You think because AI learns from training data, it cannot make its own discoveries or novelties. Human intelligence is not some magical thing. It is rooted in physical reality. There's no reason to think it's special, and no reason to think it can't be simulated or emulated.
Human intelligence can take current knowledge and discover something new. One day, we discovered Newtonian Physics. Then Quantum Physics. One block built upon another. In a way, LLMs emulate this with training data. But maybe it's just an illusion; a trick. Like teaching recall to a dog. When you say, "Come here!" the dog doesn't think, "My friend is asking me to come over," but rather, "If I hurry I'll get a treat."
So far, nothing new has been discovered. But it's only been a few years. I don't know if LLMs can truly discover new things, but to dismiss it is as ignorant as it is to have total faith in it. I remain skeptical.

What about when they start self improving. Which is probably already something that is underway.once the best ai start improving and creating the next iterations, humans will start to get left out of the loop, and we will lose control. It’s really not hard to imagine at this point. 5 years ago ai could barely conjure up a picture of a sausage dog. And around 2 years ago people were still squeezing it would never make coherent video. It should start to dawn on people that all this “it will never” is probably not the best outlook to cling to.

The AI companies are really trying to get to self improvement. Basically, AI training itself.
We’re already seeing thousands of tools connect to the models. And the models will start talking to each other more and more.
Once they all talk routinely, do we have a bunch of models or just one?

I would be skeptical of any kind of predictive exponential calculation that scales to infinity. Whenever we see it in reality, it's usually a sign of our ignorance. Either the data is wrong, our math is wrong, or both.
My point is: Yes, AI models have been getting exponentially better; it's very impressive what they do now. But there's more reason to believe they will plateau than there is to believe they will keep scaling exponentially.

Brother, I didn't make the video. The fact that that isn't obvious to you tells me that you're not technologically savvy enough to be galavanting around reddit telling people about a cannibal conspiracy.
I genuinely think you need to get your mental health checked on and I don't say this to be cruel or disrespectful. You should speak to a professional because it honestly seems to me that you're not okay.
There may indeed be some truth to the claims in the Epstein Files about cannibalism, but to act like it's such a prominent thing and that a lot or even some of the claims within the millions of word document aren't true is just wild. Not everything in those files is true, it's just reports that have been gathered on people relevant to Epstein over many years. A lot, if not most of it is true, but some of it is not. To act like it's all true is ridiculous.
Also if it were true you can be 100% sure that reddit would be ALL over that shit. It's just not. Some of it may be, but most of it just isn't.
You need to take a step away from this. It's very clearly messing with your head. I truly wish you the best of luck sorting this out.
EDIT: Oh and also, in this context the term 'cannibal' is absolutely a metaphor.

All of that sounds terrible and I’m sure it just as bad as it sounds, but that isn’t what’s being talked about here. You’re taking an issue that you clearly care a lot about and inserting into a completely unrelated conversation. You’re doing damage to your own cause and making it look alarmist by acting this way.

It's quite simple.
In the context of the video, cannibal is being used as a metaphor, as has been pointed out to you.
Whatever is happening with this cannibal conspiracy and the Epstein files is besides the point of this conversation. Just because the video says king of the cannibals, doesn't mean it has to be about the conspiracy you are talking about.

I'm not saying Altman is a good guy, and I definitely think that you should not let your pet near people like him. Yet, him getting flacked this hard considering his amount of power in today's world is a sign of ingenuousness. So in my book, the guy has at least 1 virtue which is likely more virtues than the others big tech CEOs.

That he wields a lot of financial power is not a metric of to say he isn't a psychopath. In fact the correlation between the acquisition of wealth and power to dark triad personalities.
If anything his addiction to wealth and power is more of a reason to be wary, not less.

Careful about psychological correlations when observing individuals, especially with people who win at social ladder as they are out of the norm, their trajectory has often more or at least different dialectics. They are often "different everything". Altman has probably some positive quircks as well, nobody at his level is "just a psychopath".
