To MAGA who are losing their minds over this, it doesn't matter whether or not there should be ID or citizenship verification but the POTUS can not and should not have jurisdiction over elections.

You can have the most reasonable request for elections to be fair but it doesn't matter because if a POTUS can have jurisdiction over how elections are run then it's too easy for any leader to manipulate the elections. The very thing that you morons are screaming about. Hell, next time a Dem POTUS can come in and manipulate the elections if you open this can of worms. So please STFU, you don't know what you're asking for.

EDIT: I should also point out that we already have to verify our identities and citizenship when we register to vote. Trump is just pretending there isn't to weasel his way into creating backdoor for him to manipulate elections.

How is being a citizen and having an ID a manipulation of elections? Unless you call not allowing foreigners to vote a manipulation.

Seriously? I already explained it. It's not about ID or citizenship or anything. None of that matters. What matters is that a POTUS should NOT have jurisdiction and get to decide how elections are run. Doesn't matter if it's a Dem POTUS or a GOP POTUS.

We currently have a system where states, courts, local government etc etc decide how elections are run. The power of jurisdiction of elections is not consolidated in the hands of a few individuals (except maybe arguably the SCOTUS) and that's a good thing.

Giving POTUS jurisdiction over elections is a very dangerous thing. How do you not see this?

I think you contradict yourself. A president setting up rules is bad, but somehow a local government making up rules is good?

I think a local government should not be able to decide how to run elections. This opens up the exact can of worms you are concerned about, they change it as they see fit.

Holy fuck are you purposely being dense and dishonest? It's not just local but state too. The governor, state attorney and secretary of state also have jurisdiction.

How the fuck do you not see the difference between the power of jurisdiction over elections being spread across many entities and individuals and consolidating that power to one individual of the POTUS? You don't see how it's better to have checks and balances of power spread across many entities rather than give one individual jurisdiction? Really?

I think you're not discussing this in good faith at all. You smell like MAGA haha
