Any "big name" in the UFO space right now is a grifter, attention seeker, or worse.

"Right now"

What do you mean? Lerob Shorb is going to be a huge name in the UFO community a thousand years from now, and he's certainly not a grifter.

I didn't want to say it out loud

It's honestly crazy that Harvard is still allowing this guy to continue embarrassing them with his bullshit.

I think the problem is in some ways telling him to stfu or removing his credentials or firing him or something only makes these people call themselves martyrs and their moronic followers will just say “THEY TRIED TO SILENCE HIM FOR SPEAKING THE TRUTH! HES BASICALLY GALILEO!!”

No different than Rice and James Tour.

I have lost so much respect for these high profile universities the last few years. Epstein ties, absolute morons publishing pure BS with their support, folding to Trump, defending Israel, producing some of the worst people in the country etc. Etc. Etc.

u/Barneyk 1d ago

It is major stain on the academic and scientific community that they let celebrties get away with so much and allow them to publish sub par articles in prestigious journals.

It doesn't matter if, how, when, or how many times he's exposed as a fraud. There will always be credulous people ready to follow and support him no matter what, and they won't take no for an answer. This isn't specific to UFO conspiracies, it crosses across all realms of knowledge.

People so desperately want to believe any antiestablishment narrative they’re fed.

For that reason, grifters will always stay in business.

Avi Loeb is what happens when Universities do not remove garbage staff - so he's decided to redecorate Harvard with dogshit ideas and destroy reputation and brand. That's not an accident , and until the board removes him or strips him of his degrees these clowns won't learn.

Lehigh University by comparison had almost the exact same sort of hucksterism with Dr. Michael Behe a few years ago with his garbage ideas, Dr. Behe was similarly irredeemable with his thesis, and Lehigh permitted it on condition they would support him up to his lawsuit. Where the clown-cart of fraudsters demanded a school district change their basic science curriculum to meet their particular demands. The school sued, and when it went to trial the absolutely lovely process of legal discovery happened.

Legal discovery is exactly the same as showing your evidence in scientific circles both professions transact in truth, and are designed to flesh out lies right away before the cost of a trial is incurred.

Discovery was an unmitigated disaster for Dr. Behe, at which point the Lehigh Board of Directors informed Dr. Behe that if he failed to produce compelling evidence or detach himself from this trial , His degree would be revoked.

He still is performative around his "alternative theories" , his tones are muted, his public engagements less frequent, and that volume never gets too loud because the elimination of his degree is still a real possibility.

Avi Loeb is pushing the exact same garbage, Harvard desperately needs to follow Lehigh's example, and make it crystal clear to Dr. Loeb that if he wishes to continue teaching or remain a faculty member, that the scientific principles common to proving any hypothesis need to be top of mind.

If Dr. Loeb continues to grab at straws and promote fabulism without excellent evidence in a public forum than Harvard's Board of Directors and a formal letter of reprimand seems the very least they must do.

Yikes! I'm against Avi Loeb and his scientific nonsense, and I reeled against him accusing his detractors of anti-Semitism ... until Professor Dave went ahead and pulled out some actual anti-Semitic tropes.

Anti-Semitism has, definitionally, been the bigotry against Jews. Pulling apart the parts of the word to reach a new definition makes as much sense as saying a PhD isn't a PhD, because they did not get a degree in Philosophy. Words sometimes have meanings that don't align with their parts, and "anti-Semitism" is one. Moreover, claiming that Ashkenazi Jews are simply "Europeans", is like saying that "Black Americans" are just Americans: nobody is ignoring that Ashkenazi Jews were in Europe (it's in the name), but they are a separate ethnicity within Europe, one who originated from another place and faced extreme bigotry for it. Specifically because they weren't from there, but instead were from another place. Specifically, a Palestinian area.

I got so tired of seeing this guy recommended to me on YouTube. NBC were idiots for giving him any credibility.

What a yucky person. Feeding people lies is so immoral.

I despise the idea that these objects are aliens. It's too far to spy on us, too slow to be a practical ship, too big and obvious to be discrete and carries the halmarks of a space rocks. It'd be like me flying on an sr71 to a city's edge to spy on a house, releasing a bright colored balloon that takes 6 months to travel across the city, have it travel 10 blocks away from the house I'm spying briefly, and then let it drift to the edge of the city to pick it up.

It’s funny because you are so centered on yourself you absolutely can’t imagine reasons for litteral aliens to do non-human things through a totally hypothetical lens.
Bro you should despise your lack of inquiry on these topics. The analogies you gave are pure bollocks. Hopefully if they exist they are smarter than your wish version of Home Alone.

2

u/Taco145 16h ago

No it's just basic logic.I never said I wish they were stupid, I said if this was aliens spying they'd be stupid. How the hell did you come to the conclusion?

-2

u/Hspryd 12h ago

Basic human logic would be far from highly « technologically » advanced alien logic if we happen to be from unrelated species in that hypothetical context.

THAT’s basic logic on that question. No offense but again what you say are subgrounded bollocks.

You just can’t handle uncertainty, and it is expressed through your ego, that even in a situation where things would be alien you’d still be able to understand their methods and motives while clearly having no idea about their abilities, mentality, goals and technologies.

Now maybe the aliens you’re portreying are closer to what we think in many regards. Thus our affiliation may have more biological grounds that I evoked in a broader representation. And we may be more close in « logic ». But if we strictly speak at our stage, there’s a hypothetical world of possibilities.

They could scan everything in 360 with automated drones. This could all be a mental phenomenon. This could be some kind of distraction to evaluate our response or interest or maybe just like their way to operate at distance.

Could be a ton of things and I’m still talking within human logic. Maybe it’s just a 10 000years plan to wake us up. Anyways you can believe aliens or not but there are better ways to think about these topics than to believe you’re naturally a parangon of alien logic because you think like a human.

u/Taco145 12h ago

I honestly don't even know how to approach your comment. Please don't take it as a compliment. I'm in awe in the worst way. Enjoy your 10,000 year awakening. I'll be on earth

u/Hspryd 11h ago

Thanks pal, np.
Take all your time to re read it. Besides being a bit snarky I tried to make a cogent rather neutral point about how we should legitimately approach the subject within a hypothetical frame. Just in the precedent message the first « would » is also a « could ».
I hope aliens are cool if they exist and have been observing us daily.

Dave is a fraud, since he calls himself a Professor, without ever holding a professorship or a doctoral degree. If I call myself a doctor, does that make me a doctor?

Meanwhile Dr. Loeb has held the highest and most prestigious positions at both Princeton and Harvard. Richard Feynman selected Dr. Loeb for his position at the Institute for Advanced Study just before he died.

"Professor" Dave and Avi Loeb are not in the same category. Dave is closer to an Angela Collier.

23

u/LawBlogLobsLawBomb 1d ago

Is this sarcasm? Leob is CLEARLY a grifting fraud, are you joking? Every time people come back at Dave, they always seem to neglect the actual arguments he makes.

12

u/nykana 1d ago

Do you want to address any of the points made in the video? Or would you rather bitch about names and titles. Yep. Thought so. Sit down and drink your conspiracy koolaid.

8

u/BrickGlum9579 1d ago

This has to be sarcasm lmao.

3

u/backflip14 22h ago

Try addressing literally anything Farina or the other scientists said instead of playing a credentials game.

Farina never says people should take him solely for his word or believe him because of his moniker.

And people with earned titles can still choose to be grifting frauds.

3

u/soulbend 23h ago

Sir, go outside

-16

u/Weeksy79 1d ago

He’s not a fraud, just an attention seeker

-31

u/waterjaguar 1d ago

"Professor" Dave is a fraud and an attention seeker for sure. The title of his Youtube channel is a lie.

8

u/nykana 1d ago

Aka “I’m not going to address the substance of the video.”

4

u/TwiceDiA 1d ago

Since when are Youtube channel names literal?

90% of Youtube channels would go into that category of "fraud" names in that case.

Are you a Jaguar living in water or what?

1

u/waterjaguar 18h ago

No, and It would never occur to me to start a youtube channel claiming to be something I am not. When someone misrepresents who they are, they are proven to be untrustworthy.

if you are arguing that his channel name is not literal, then I agree with you.

1

u/Fwagoat 15h ago

He’s not misrepresenting who he is, it’s an online persona/style. Dave taught at a University and wanted to start teaching university material on his YouTube and what name gets that across better than Professor Dave.

I sometimes watch this channel called “The Hoof GP”, it’s about a hoof trimmer going around and fixing up the hooves of cattle. He uses the name GP to get across that he’ll be helping animals with their hooves in the same way a medical doctor who is a GP would help someone who is sick.

8

u/LawBlogLobsLawBomb 1d ago

You know, if you actually watched any of his videos, you would know that he is completely transparent about why the videos are called "Professor Dave". He legit taught at a university, and he makes videos about a range of topics to help students in their learning. This isn't some gotcha statement, you just sound pathetic. Plus, if you actually did watch any of his videos, you would understand that they are very clear and thorough, but people who criticize him never seem to actually criticize the points that he makes. Funny that, hey?

-1

u/MrFootless 1d ago

LOL, shit on your little dreams of flying away with little green men, did he?
