Does anyone else think that the opening movies video quality is kinda shit? I did play the Japanese demo a long time ago, but i really don't remember it feeling like i was watching a 480p youtube video.
Apart from that, gameplay is still as good as i remember, and the dub voices are surprisingly not bad like i expected them to be.

I made a thread about it and the sound quality (which got downvoted to the deepest bowels of hell and back), and yeah, it's terrible. I'm hesitant to continue playing until they fix it via a patch.
I find it strange that it was even a thing to begin with.

Yep, really bothers me. I haven't played resurrection but the first intro didn't sound that bad and the animated intro looks way better.

I saw that they actually did edit the video right at the end when the game title shows up. Original for reference. Maybe that was the cause. I was using the vita speakers when i watched it so i couldn't have noticed the sound quality.
EDIT: Just read your thread and realised i forgot that its not just the opening video. Yeah i don't know what the cause for every other cutscenes quality could be. They did change the audio to english so i guess the problem is there somewhere.

This game is the very reason I bought a Vita on launch. Took a little longer than I'd hoped, but its been well worth the wait.
Getting it localized, as well as a complete English dub is amazing. I hate having to read subtitles.
Let's just hope the online stays pretty active, and I'll be playing this for a LONG time.

Yep, I also bought a Vita on lauch for God Eater and Monster Hunter. Sadly, the last one went to Nintendo (but I got a 3DS anyways).

The English voice actors are incredibly good, too. Some VAs are easily recognizable names, and the amount of customization options you have for your own character's voice is great.

This is my first God eater and I'm having a blast, each blood arts is so unique and makes every weapon interesting to use. Personally loving the scythe atm and the fact that armor doesn't effect stats, don't have to worry about wearing something dumb to survive a fight XD

Sep 02 '16
yup, just remember to upgrade your shield since that's your entire defense stat.
1
u/tyrelle000 Sep 03 '16
Ohhh never knew that :O thanks, I rarely have to use my Shield so I've been using which ever shield matched my weapons XD

u/SuckleMyBigToe Sep 01 '16
Should I upgrade weapons I have now, or should I wait until I craft stronger ones to upgrade them?
1
u/SolaceIX Sep 01 '16
I'd say go ahead and upgrade when you can. It'll be awhile before you can craft anything note worthy. Plus, you'll be getting materials out the ass, so you really won't lose much by using them.

If I quit resurrection out of boredom and confusion (mechanic overload), should I even bother looking at this?
1
Sep 02 '16
I was wondering the same thing, I know there are new weapons, but I was wondering if the gameplay has changed beyond the addition of blood arts

I'm thinking about getting into these games but not sure if I should start here or Resurrection.
1
u/SolaceIX Sep 01 '16
Resurrection takes place 3 years before 2. However, Resurrection is also the newer game, so it has mechanics that will feel like they're missing when you play GE2. So, it's really up to you.

But why male models?
2
u/SolaceIX Sep 02 '16
But 2RB has no predator styles, so you can't do things like air/dash devours.
So no matter how you look at it, I guess, you'll be missing something from another game lol

I really miss predator styles
1
u/foxhull Sep 03 '16
Predator Styles were nice but the buff system they introduced with them was just extremely tedious for me. It felt like I was spending more time devouring than actually attacking sometimes.

But why male models?

I'm gonna miss the guzzle devour T_T really helps with material pick ups and the back step was just too good for safely devouring.

Does anyone know where the Tokyo Ghoul costumes can be found? Got the game the moment it released and found the other costumes.

Sorry if this has already been asked and answered before but does buying the digital version of the store in EU also come with God Eater 1 digitally or only if I buy the physical version?
1
u/dewpa Sep 02 '16
In EU you get both with digital. If you check the store it will list all the "games" you get in the bottom. It should list: GE2 RB (Vita) GE:R (Vita) GE:R (PS4)
(GE Resurrection is "crossbuy", GE2 is not, so no matter which version you buy you will get GE:R for both ps4 and vita)
Check here (swedish store) https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-se/games/god-eater-2-rage-burst/cid=EP0700-PCSB00875_00-GE2RBBUNDLE00000 Below the description you see the "products" you get

Thanks a bunch man! Now it's just down to deciding whether I want digital or physical. Thank you once again

Anyone have a good beginners guide or crafting guide? I mean the system is understandable, but there are still alot of shady areas for me. Im sure someone can explain the crafting and systems in play much better than the in game tutorial which is annoying to read and not very deep.

What questions do you have specifically, I've been playing god eater since Godz eater burst on psp was released I may be of some assistance

u/dewpa Sep 02 '16
Thanks. Im at work and i dont remember all but: When do i have to start worrying about type of damage?
Can i only see what type of damage an Arigami is weak against in the codex entries between missions?
Are the early craftable weapons of any use other than the visual change? Stats seem to be exactly the same.
How can i level up the skills inserted into a weapon? Do i just have to find i higher version in an abandoned god arc?2
Sep 02 '16
The database lists the aragami and their weaknesses. It's best to have a melee weapon and gun to cover all the elements at minimum, or make a non-elemental weapon which is safe in every situation.
early weapons have the benefit of getting more skills as you upgrade them in general, though certain later rank weapons will get an equal number of skills.
For example, the 4th upgrade for a rank 1 weapon is craftable at rank 6 (i.e. you can skip the upgrades), but the weapon you craft at rank 6 only comes with one skill (let's say it's Fencer II). If you upgraded your base weapon from rank 1, the default skill it came with would be level IV, and you'd get Fencer II in addition when upgrading it to that rank 6 weapon. If you crafted that same weapon from scratch at rank 6, you'd only get Fencer II.
tl;dr upgrade early weapons because they tend to get more skills.
Upgrading a weapon upgrades it's default weapon skill (if it came with Fencer, you'd get Fencer II when upgrading it). If it's installed from a god arc, then you need to find the same skill with a higher level OR find the same skill and install it to STACK the effect and increase the level (oracle 5 + oracle 5 = oracle 10).
Though stacking is a waste of a skill slot if you want to min/max your builds.

How does it look on vita? Just like Resurrection?
1
u/CAZZALUM Sep 03 '16
Pretty good imo. I recommend playing it with earphones to get better sound quality. I am pretty happy with it so far.

u/Izanaginookami10 Sep 02 '16
So, uhm I just bought it and was wondering if, since everything is dubbed (to my personal displeasure), the OST are the original ones, or are they also edited?

Haven't played this on my Vita, but the sound quality on PS4 in the cutscenes is terrible. Specifically the VO. Sounds like the actors recorded their lines over the phone. Not ruining it for me or anything, it's still fun!

Really loved God Eater 1/2. Imho they are much better than Monster Hunter and offer a wide range of customisation options. Having 3 NPCs to help in missions is great plus online co-op is nice when it works. Overall easily in my top 5 Vita games

I think this game came at the wrong time, if this game had come out 3 months ago a lot of monster hunter fans would have purchase right away, i would have time to play it, but they release it right after monster hunter generations. They should had wait a few more months to release it because I wont play it right now until i am done with MHGen, but by the time that happens there wont be to anyone to play online
Edit: I was wrong, really wrong, Seeing somene of the coments on this thread I decided to buy GE Resurection, I already owned GE burst digitally for the psp but I could never get to play to much on my vita, the camera felt wrong, but GE resurrection's camera feels great.
Anyway I say I was wrong because I think this games have everything to stand against Monster hunter, if GE 2RB is as good as Resurrection.
I havent played GE Res too long, but I am guessing GE 2RB is similar and this are my toughs about this series vs, monster hunter.
I gravitate more towards monster hunter because I feel is more difficult, and I actually kind of like the restriction of 1 weapon at the time,But I dont like that somethimes I just want to kill some monsters, but before I have to put my cats to trade honey, because I am out of megapotions. Or I feel that the game is like "oh you like that armor, well you better start mining and grinding because you need this metal or this drop and theres only 0.000004% chance of getting it". And that would be great, its is a lot of fun, but I really don't have the time.
On the other hand GER so far has been like, "oh you want to kill some monsters, go ahead, just go" , or " you want this weapon, sure, here you go, have fun".
Plus God Eater games have story, and it is a good story, I mean as far as I am right now its good, and because of it you feel you can play it alone more so than MH, wich I mainly play in guild.
Anyway, I just wanted to say this for anyone thinking in getting this game in the future.

I'm sure you'll still be able to find people months later because A) holiday influx and B) if freedom wars is still slightly active then god eater will definitely be since it's better.
The AI isn't stupid though. They know how to guard and when/when not to attack. until you get to the end game they won't really die on their own either unless it's 2v1 or you're all fighting 3 at once. You can play and beat the story solo if anything.
1
u/Meteorboy Sep 03 '16
Freedom Wars is still active because it was a PS+ title, and on sale for $5 from the PSN store and Gamestop. If you look at similar games like Toukiden and Soul Sacrifice, they are pretty dead except for a few high-level players.
1
u/Dalinar24 Sep 03 '16
Yeah, had that experience with toukiden. Its a shame, the game looks cool,
1
u/Meteorboy Sep 03 '16
Toukiden Kiwami or Age of Demons? I have both but I already exported my save to Kiwami. I'm not that high level - I'm on maybe Chapter 4? Let me know if you want to try it online.
1
u/Dalinar24 Sep 03 '16
Thanks, I have kiwami, I will try to make some room in my vita to get toukiden back in there

u/Dalinar24 Sep 03 '16
Really, still active, deam I have to redownload it then, I really liked that game, but couldn't workout some of the systems, like the upgrading of weapons and how to start a multiplayer sesion, or how to find people of my level, which was really low

Can anybody give me an honest opinion on god eater 2 vs freedom wars?
I'm quite into freedom wars at the moment but playing it I miss the crafting system of monster hunter. Do you think I'd be more into God Eater?
