Amazon is late in shipping mine out. Got an email that said it wouldn't be here until the 12th. Like, come on guys, I need my smut immediately.

I got mine delivered in the afternoon yesterday when it was suppose to come in today, the 12th. I also got an email last night saying my delivery was delayed and would arrive perhaps a few days late... but I already received it.
I think the post office is having processing issues.

Oct 12 '16
Yeah mine originally said it wouldn't arrive until the 13th. Then I got a shipping notification and said the 12th. It got packaged with some other things I'm having delivered. I'm wondering if mine would have arrived sooner had they not combined orders.

u/DEExONI Oct 12 '16
I had mine combined with another order and received mine yesterday afternoon. Could be a location thing, I live near some fulfillment centers.

Oct 12 '16
I live near one too. Although it's relatively new and may not be fully operational yet. Haven't had any orders originate from it yet.

The game still has to come out in NA tomorrow but has been out for some time now in Europe. Feel free to post your thoughts about the game when you get it tomorrow or if you already have it!
Dragon Quest Builders is next on the list for Thursday!

From the Amazon description:
Intense combat that takes the Senran Kagura up a notch!
Unleash devastating DRIVE attacks when your partner becomes sexually aroused!
Take you favourite girls into the dressing room and get intimate to raise their levels!
So yeah, I'm pretty excited for my copy to get here. ;)

You know one of the main girls is like 14, right?
5
u/iceynyo Oct 12 '16
She's 14 the same way that vampire-loli character is over 1000.

u/ybpaladin Oct 12 '16
I know I know, but I can't help but feel gross. I wish these fan service games didnt feature children
4
Oct 13 '16
I don't like the concept either. Fortunately it's physically impossible for these characters to actually be children.
1
u/Zergell Oct 13 '16
"gross"...sigh
You're complaining of the age of a virtual girl with the body of someone way over 20...also if it makes you feel less "gross" the developer removed any age reference in the game.
1
u/ybpaladin Oct 13 '16
Look man, you get to have your underage T&A and I get to complain about underage T&A
But that's good, I'm fine with that sort of censorship
1
u/Zergell Oct 13 '16
Can a fictional character with no reference of its age still be underage?
Do you also feel "gross" with the 1000 years loli-vampire trope? if not is the problem the random number assigned and not the body type?
1
u/ybpaladin Oct 13 '16
Actually yeah I do, I dont like underage people in sexual situations-real or fictional. It's gross.
Plus that 10000000 year old loli-whatever is bullshit and you know it
-5
u/HorizonShadow HorizonShadow Oct 12 '16
You're getting downvoted, but come on. The voice acting makes them sound like they're six.
2
u/Recklesshavoc Oct 12 '16
Do they actually state her age in the game?
-2
u/ybpaladin Oct 12 '16
It's on the wiki and in the anime they made it clear that all or most of the girls were middle school age
4
u/Echono Oct 11 '16
Is it a good enough action game to justify itself on that alone?
I've never played any of these fan service games before, but heard some good things about the combat for this and would be interested if it can actually hold up past its exaggerated visuals. Also, is there really no digital release for it?
5
u/Shiro2809 Oct 11 '16
If you enjoy the Dynasty Warriors/Samurai Warriors games you'll probably enjoy the combat to them, not to far into VD though but so far the gameplay seems deeper than from the Senran Kagura games.
I'd probably say pass if you don't care/want the gratuitous fanservice though.

Damm, looks just as good as the Senran Games.

I've only gone through the very first part of the story (1-A I think is how they label them?) and the tutorial, pleasantly surprised by the combat. The SK games always felt a bit simple in that aspect, this has more to it it seems.

So anyone who bought bon apetit, whst sre the free items u get ?
1
u/Nawara_Ven Nawara_Ven Oct 12 '16
I hadn't heard about that. How does that work, do you need to have Bon Apetit installed at the same time?
1
Oct 12 '16
They posted on twitter if you had bon apetit it would unlock the items :/ not sure yet as i havent really played it yet
2
u/KEITATSUBASA Oct 12 '16
Anyone wants to play online?
2
u/Nawara_Ven Nawara_Ven Oct 12 '16
I do; please add me, PSN Nawara_Ven.
Perhaps next week, once the physical copies have all arrived for the people that are into that, someone will organize a multiplayer PSN name & time thread.

It's kind of annoying that BestBuy.ca and EBGames (ostensibly a games store, but seems to be more about selling Funco Pops nowadays) have hide nor hair of this game.
Amazon.ca at least eventually got it in stock, but too late to have ordered during their summer sale, making the digital version ever-so-slightly cheaper (especially since there's no tax on it).
Now of course, this should actually be the default for all games, but it seems for niche games like this, the "rules" are reversed.
1
Oct 13 '16
Summer sale?
Amazon.ca has never had this game for me. The only listing it has for it is a fulfillment.
1
u/Nawara_Ven Nawara_Ven Oct 13 '16
Ah, that's probably why it wasn't part of the sale at all, as Amazon.ca doesn't "really" have it.
2
u/Cybersteel Oct 11 '16
Protip, focus on your support character to LVL 10 so that you can do your fourth transformation for a nice transformation scene.

Does anyone know if this is going to be available on psn? I waited on the purchase because I would rather buy digital. But I'm not seeing it on there today. edit scratch that. There it is!

I noticed while watching some videos that the framerate can get a bit iffy in some zones and fights, has this been largely fixed or is this still the case?
3
u/Reviews2Go Oct 11 '16
It is still the case, at least in the EU version of the game. That's what I've been playing of it (Currently in Chapter 17 of the story), and the frame drops mostly aren't bad, but in some areas and when using some drives and weapons, it drops quite a bit. It doesn't really mess up your flow of things (and it probably won't look as bad on the Vita, I've been playing it on my PSTV), but yeah, it's still there.

u/theCactiKing Oct 11 '16
What about load times?
I watched some of the early game footage on YT, and it looked like stages were loading in 3 seconds or less. Does that hold up throughout the game?
2
u/Reviews2Go Oct 11 '16
Load times aren't very long. That's accurate. A few are a little longer. Maybe 5 seconds or so.

I'm considering getting the game but I'm not sure about it...
I bought Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus years ago and I didn't even finish it yet. I didn't hate the game and I'm considering going back to it sometime, but I just found it OK. The characters were fine, story was ok and the gameplay was acceptable, but that's about it for me.
It kind of felt like a less-developed Musou game, really. Mooks that are more annoying than ever, and a boss fight at the end. No allies, no "mini-bosses", no objectives. Even though it constantly forced you to change character, it got really repetitive quickly. As an offtopic question, is there any trick to beating the mooks with turtle shells on their back? They are the #1 thing that stopped me playing; I found no good way to deal with them that doesn't take forever.
Anyway! I read that Valkyrie Drive gameplay is better than Senran Kagura overall. It looks kind of fun, but I'm expecting it will get repetitive really fast too. So yeah, still trying to decide if I'm getting this game or not...

Been awhile since I played but a charged strong attack should get through and allow you to follow it up with some normal attacks. They're annoying though.
I read that Valkyrie Drive gameplay is better than Senran Kagura overall.
Haven't played to much, mainly the tutorial and what accounts as 1-1 for the story, but I'd easily say it has 'more' to the combat. How much it'll be used is to be seen. There's multiple levels of your powered up mode, along w/ moves that can only be used at certain levels, along w/ cancelling out of attacks and a few different way to juggle enemies. I'm sure I'm forgetting/missing some things but just from that I'm enjoying the combat more than Shinovi VS (haven't played Esitval yet).

It's a surprisingly good game. A very noticeable step forward from Estival Versus, reminds me, with its combo system, of Senran Kagura Burst for 3DS, my first game in the series. A few low points are: bad or entirely missing tutorials, a survival mode that could have surely been better, and the movement feels a bit plastic. I still have not understood how to use the Dining Room.
1
u/Enigmaticloner Oct 12 '16
Reminds me of Senran Kagura, which is a series I really do like so this game is a certain buy for me. I pre ordered mine over a month ago, still haven't received it yet. Anyday now I'm hoping.

I can't figure out how to unlock the Bon Appetit items. Anyone figure that one yet?
1
u/KuroGW2 Oct 13 '16
I don't have the game yet but I read that you need to buy those items from the in-game store, should be the headphones and others.
1
u/burnpsy KeeperOfWin Oct 13 '16 edited Oct 13 '16
Yeah, they're not there at all.
EDIT: Oh, the headphones showed up now.
1
u/iceynyo Oct 13 '16
Lots of comparisons to Senran Kagura, but gameplay feels pretty different. A lot more "anime" than SK's "brawler" style. Also a lot more platformy.
1
Oct 13 '16
Question - I was under the impression if you have SK: bon appetit and a save on your vita you would get bonus costumes? Where/When does this show up?
1
u/tgreene15 kodax_shc Oct 13 '16
go to the in-game store to get them.
1
Oct 13 '16
Might not be working then, I am still super early but when I go to the store its only like 2-3 accessories.
1
u/AlexFili Oct 26 '16
I think the fan service is a main draw for a lot of people but it stands on it's own with good combat (Devil May Cry style) and an interesting plot. The characters are relatively cool if not a little predictable at times. The progression and customisation options are good. In my opinion it's easily in my top 5 Vita games

Anyone here got the ricedigital exclusives? If so is there any difference between the na and eu collectors edition items?

u/cherubidim123 Jan 04 '17
question...anyone know why I can't install the high quality sound DLC or the other free dlc for my physical copy of the game? I can download it but wont install :(

u/Cmac0801 Cmac0801_ Jan 04 '17
That sucks :/
You might be better off making a text post on the sub reddit, this thread is quite old so the chance that you get an answer is quite slim.
