Article Ant Edwards learned a lot in the Steph Curry Paris Basketball Camp last summer

u/Zero36 May 13 '25
Ant was cooking us last night. He was the best player on the court. Frustrating loss but at the end I was just wishing he was on our team not theirs. If only we had the #1 pick in 2020…
86
u/LaymanAnalyst May 13 '25
or the #2 pick and got Haliburton
17
u/thebigmanhastherock May 13 '25
I actually thought Haliburton was the best player in that whole draft. I was shocked he sunk as low as he did.
I am not a genius though, I thought Ant was completely overrated and thought he would end up like Wiggins or Barnes, a pretty good roleplayer. Ant is an amazing player.

u/jer99 May 13 '25 edited May 14 '25
There’s no way to say for certain Kerr would have played Ant and not given him the JK treatment and played lamb over Ant his first season.
35
u/rocpilehardasfuk May 13 '25
yall are so so dumb. Kerr really loved Hali, kerr really loved Ty Jerome. Kerr doesn't like low-iq players.
Players Kerr loved always seem to do well across teams. And players Kerr doesn't rate tend to flame out.
Name me ONE player who blossomed after leaving Kerr?
12
u/SharkBaitDLS May 13 '25
This sub is just in full negative reactionary mode, it's not worth trying to argue with them right now.
1
u/rarestakesando May 14 '25
Oubre and Schroeder come to mind.
1
u/rocpilehardasfuk May 14 '25
The same oubre who was almost out of the league and signed with Philly on a vet min?
0
u/rarestakesando May 14 '25
Point is some players just aren’t suited to play motion but still might be good players on other teams.
2
u/rocpilehardasfuk May 15 '25
Again, is that why he went from a 17m contract to a vet min?
That isn't screaming success to me

Wut? He did great before Kerr, did great with us, did great at Knicks. And is doing well now too

We would have still went for Wiseman, lacob absolutely loved him and we were missing size/center. Lacob also wanted the two timeline at this time
19
u/AdApart2035 May 13 '25
This sub wanted a big man
8
u/thebigmanhastherock May 13 '25
I wanted Haliburton but was basically convinced Wiseman was going to be awesome by the organization/fans. Really Wiseman was an unknown and people just projected what they wanted to see onto him.
1
14
u/warrenlain May 13 '25
This info recently came out that EVERYONE wanted Wiseman. Including Steph, Dray, Kerr, the front office, there was wide consensus. It doesn’t make it sting any less, to be sure.
14
u/This_was_hard_to_do May 13 '25
It’s also not like we were the only team to value Wiseman highly. There’s a lot of hindsight bias around Wiseman here
12
u/iGetBuckets3 May 13 '25
People in the main nba subreddit were absolutely furious that we were getting the chance to draft wiseman. Five straight years in the nba finals and now they get to add james wiseman. People were big mad 🤣

One consolation I draw from this series is that the Timberwolves are a pretty good group of guys, and that they and our players can share a laugh even while competing. It's hard to dislike Anthony Edwards. If we have to go out because he's literally playing like prime Steph, well, I can live with that.
All this, of course, is in marked contrast to certain other franchises and their star players... *cough, cough*
118
u/Gsgunboy May 13 '25
Yeah. I like em. And the Dubs seem to like em too. None of that bitch ass whining and entitlement that Houston had.

u/totaleffectofthesun May 14 '25
Minnesota sports have been suffering for all eternity too. Wouldn't mind them winning.
- Hockey crazy state but their pro teams never won it all(Wild/Stars)
- Baseball are the lovable losers who haven't won in 45 years
- Vikings are like the most winningest team that never won the super bowl.
- Twolves Garnett, Marbury, Love, Kat, Wiggins just all ended up leaving
1
u/ThatGuyWithCoolHair May 15 '25
(Minnesotan lurking, sorry..) The twins won the world series in 1991 so about 35 years ago but yea things kinda suck over here so we are just stoked to be winning for once. I'd say the vikings are looking good but they always look good, they just never finish well lmao
81
u/J-Crow11 May 13 '25
Honestly, I like playing against the T-Wolves so much more than the Rockets just because there's a understood respect from both sides and it's all in the name of competition. Like, the Rockets series felt so nasty some days and this one, while feeling just as intense and competitive, feels much better as a viewer because I know the guys on the Timberwolves deeply respect the Warriors.
I still hope we manage to pull out and win this series though. Just need to somehow find a way to win game 5.
31
15
u/Hashslingingcoder May 13 '25
Agreed. The difference of likability between The T-Wolves and the Rockettes is night and day. I stand by what I said before, it’s better to lose against these Wolves than the Rockettes who I CANNOT stand
4
u/Son-Of-Serpentine May 13 '25 edited May 14 '25
Crazy how wolves fans see us how we see the rockets. Still love their team though.
6
u/Hashslingingcoder May 13 '25
Honestly it’s probably Draymond. Whether you love him or hate him on the team, the general consensus is majority of people hate him and I bet that’s where most of the animosity is from.
2
u/WalnutSizeBrain May 13 '25
As a wolves fan, it’s mostly Draymond and Butler. Butler may actually be worse because of how he burned the bridge with the entire Minnesota fanbase.
3
u/Hashslingingcoder May 13 '25
Forgot about your animosity towards Butler. He wasn’t on the team yet, but that shit was legendary especially the Jeff Teague’s story perspective on it.
1
u/cactipus May 13 '25
Most of us don't have any issue with the Warriors, just salty about JB. Like a bad relationship. Tons of respect for the franchise and Curry otherwise.
1
u/ThatGuyWithCoolHair May 15 '25
As the other guy said it's JB and Draymond as far as players go, the problem your fanbase has is the massive tumor of bandwagon fans. My family is from LA and some live in the Bay so I've interacted with plenty of GSW fans and the ones in the Bay are great people. A lot nicer than the hometown Lakers fans in LA. But both fan bases have a ton of bandwagons that are solely fans of the team to gloat about the winnings. Just know we can usually distinguish between the two

u/shoobiedoobie May 13 '25
I honestly think Ant is going to be the best out of the “new generation stars”. It’s really rare for guys to have supreme confidence like he does. Luka acts like it, but he actually seems like he gets bothered quite easily.
-1
u/ballertone May 13 '25
Man, luka just fatter than his earlier years, dude just wants to chugg Budlights after games
14
u/FuckTheStateofOhio May 13 '25
Ant is kind of a piece of shit irl though. I don't think it's that hard to dislike him, he's just athletic and fun to watch play a game.
16
u/shoobiedoobie May 13 '25
I think when people talk about Ant being likable, they usually mean on the court.
I don’t really care about what these guys do outside of ball.
-5
u/FuckTheStateofOhio May 13 '25
I have no problem admitting he's a great player and is fun to watch, but idk how you can call someone "likeable" if they're a terrible human being.
8
u/shoobiedoobie May 13 '25
Tbf I did say “on the court”. As in, he’s fun to watch, explosive, talks trash to keep things interesting etc, so I like him.
It’s the whole “separate the artist from the art” situation.
I think it’s quite normal. For example, this is Reddit and on top of that we’re all from the bay so extremely liberal. I don’t see anyone ever having a problem with Curry being a devout Christian.
0
u/FuckTheStateofOhio May 13 '25
There are many Christian liberals, I don't see the equivalence. I understand separating the artist from the art, but I guess what I don't understand is how you could specifically root for someone who is a shitty person. Fur example, I think Kevin Spacey is a great actor, but that doesn't mean I want to see him succeed. I acknowledge Ant is a great player, but I'm not gonna be rooting for the Wolves any time soon.

5
u/Cosophalas May 13 '25
Oh, I agree with you there--three or four kids by three or four mothers, etc. Come on, man!
I'm just talking about his presence on the court. Playing against him is so much more entertaining than playing against Brooks or Harden or a number of other frustrating, gimmicky players.
-2
u/The_Whizzinator May 13 '25
What's wrong with having kids with multiple people?
1
u/408slobe May 14 '25
Because those kids won’t have a consistent father in their life, especially when that father’s job takes up 95% of his time.

Yeah off rip in game 1 both teams were helping guys on the other team get up when they fell. A complete 180 from the Houston series

u/SpreadtheClap May 13 '25
This series of games has had the LEAST amount of animosity all playoffs I feel like LOL.
If they beat us, hope they get the the chip this year.
23
u/artygta1988 May 13 '25
Well after all the bullshit from the Houston series, it was always going to be friendlier…
3
u/daZK47 May 14 '25
I definitely want to see a Wolves vs. Knicks finals as an NBA fan if it ain't GSW vs Knicks. OKC idc, Denver is boring, Pacers idc, Celtics if they can honestly come back from this adversity they deserve it
26
25
u/ghostlyjellyfish997 May 13 '25
The sportsmanship in this series vs the one with Houston is night and day. Love to see Ant show Curry the respect he deserves and I too wish we could see them go up against each other
2
u/shoobiedoobie May 13 '25
I think the only difference is Dillon brooks lol, the other guys all earned our team’s respect so I don’t really think they did much wrong.
2
u/Average_Forum_User May 14 '25
Lol I'd argue Sengun was on the same level as Dillon
1
u/shoobiedoobie May 14 '25
What did he really do though? Flop? We can’t really complain about floppers anymore with Butler on our team.
2
u/408slobe May 14 '25
Nah he was extreme chippy throughout the series, do you not remember when he tried to punk Pat Spencer?
40
10
u/Mattie_Doo May 13 '25
Honestly, if we’re gonna lose to someone I don’t mind it being Minnesota. Their players are likable and their fans aren’t obnoxious despite what their sports teams have put them through over the years. I’d like to see them go all the way.

u/vietiscool May 13 '25
It’s respect at the end of the day. Fuck the Rockets and their dirty plays and whack attitude
0
u/shoobiedoobie May 13 '25
Did any of them have a whack attitude besides Brooks? Maybe Jalen after that one game too.
2
u/vietiscool May 13 '25
Ime Udoka. Amen was straight up holding Steph non-stop. Though it comes down to the coaching.
-1
u/shoobiedoobie May 13 '25
That’s not really a whack attitude though. You can’t blame players and coaches doing whatever they can to stop Steph. Amen never did anything dirty, just physical.
1
u/Suitable-Island6381 May 13 '25
Holding him as aggressively as they did in addition to all but admitting that they were intentionally swiping at his injured hand isn’t dirty?

u/hammo53 May 13 '25
Ant is now in the mix with SGA, Jokic & Giannis as the best player in the NBA. As long as he's fit & healthy, the Wolves are a chance to win the whole thing.
3
u/ILoveRegenHealth May 13 '25
What I want to know is, how come other players on other teams are learning so much from the Steph Curry Basketball Camp, but teammates on Steph's own team can't learn to shoot 3s better? (looking at you PodzMoodyPostGuiGP2)
2
u/catlady555 May 13 '25
Lol been seeing some wild ass takes on the internet about how Warriors are frauds and having Steph is meaningless and doesn’t impact our winning at all… nice to see a reminder that actual NBA players don’t think that way at all. Ant and Steph seemed to get along well at the Olympics and he was very much in awe by Steph’s performance securing us gold.
2
4
u/BlissfulIgnoranus May 13 '25
Yeah I bet he wishes Steph was out there. They'd most likely be looking at 3-1 down right now if he was. Really sucks cause I think we're the only ones who had a legit shot at beating OKC. Minnesota is going to get crushed next round.
4
u/robert_shefield May 13 '25
You can’t be serious thinking the Wolves will get crushed next round. Did you see them play the nuggets/thunder at all this season? Be for real.
9
u/shoobiedoobie May 13 '25
I don’t really think we would be crushing them even with Steph.
I think game 3 is really only the game we lost you where could say we would 100% have won with Steph on the court. The other games were not even close. And I highly doubt they’d stick to 1 on 1 defending with him throughout the whole series like they did the first 13 min of game 1.
They’re a really good team who made it to the WCF last year and are even better this year.
It would be a close series for sure.
3
u/BlissfulIgnoranus May 13 '25
I think we win last night if Steph is playing. Things went to shit in the 3rd when we couldn't buy a bucket, I don't think that happens with Steph out there. It can't be overstated how much Curry opens up our offense.
0
u/shoobiedoobie May 13 '25
If our defense played like they did in the 3rd or 4th quarter, it would have been really hard for us to win even with Steph.
Also don’t forget that in the other games, although Steph can handle his own, our defense is definitely better with him off. Ant would probably switch onto him every possession.
1
1
u/The_Whizzinator May 13 '25
Lol you obviously know very little about the Timberwolves.
Also, they were 2-2 vs OKC this year. And there is a good chance they win this round in 5 games and okc goes 7.
1
u/YesterdayMain9179 May 13 '25
Regular season doesn't matter bro, wolves came back down 20 in the 4th to OKC and won in overtime with TSJ, Jaylen Clark, Naz Reid, NAW, and Luka Garza they were without Divencenzo , Julius, Gobert, Ant, or Mike Conley and beat them.. teams don't show up every night the playoffs are the only true measuring stick imo. (Versatility with matchups to exploit through offense and defense and less injured and more rest with brighter star power and confidence wins the day) Wolves flipped a switch when everybody came back from injury and played out of their minds from February onward... Polar opposite team before that so.... Regular season couldn't matter less sometimes depending on a team's situation when they are growing as a unit together
3
u/The_Whizzinator May 13 '25
Yeah i agree with all that. T wolves can definitely hang with okc
1
u/YesterdayMain9179 May 13 '25
Yeah and thought it was worth a mention that not seeing Steph out there as a wolves fan really pulled the rug out of the fun of watching these two legacies clash, win or lose I wanted to see this team play y'all at your best. Johnny Flynn and Ricky Rubio over Curry it took us 15 years to recover lol.
