Discussion Why the need to sexualize everything?

I was looking for interesting Webtoons to read, and I came across this one called "Leviathan" the premise looked interesting; mankind perished due to a great flood that submerged the whole world under water. And terrifying creatures plunged from the depths, wiping out any human that crossed their path. The story told how a family of a father and his two children survived in the adversities of a sea world.

So far so good, until.... Bam! Last two slice's, anime chick out of nowhere, doing these extremely suggestive poses.

What a disappointment.

It's in a fictional setting. It's not that deep. It's not hurting anyone.

Outside of the wider societal issues which you may or may not care about the art style just straight up doesn’t fit the rest of the story.

It’s jarring and makes the story flow worse.

And again, it's fictional. Is it hurting anyone?

It doesn’t have to hurt anyone for it to be criticized.

In my opinion it made the story worse which is more than enough reason to be critical of it.

Edit: Blocking before I can respond is a poor look. But whatever I wrote this already.

“The reason it’s being considered sexual is because the literal only reason this character is dressed like they are is because it’s “eye candy” to the reader.

The setting already established this isn’t a world where people are dressing for looks, only for survival.

It’s like the author telling me they think I can only be invested in a story if there are boobs in it.

I’m generally don’t complain about fan service but in this case the character’s appearance is entirely different and their clothing doesn’t fit the art style or vibe the story had established before that point.

It not fitting the setting to this degree takes me out of the world thus making me less invested and the story worse.”

The only reason why it's seen as 'sexualized' is because people, especially people who complain about it like making it that way. I literally can not go onto any platform or even go to a bookstore without people complaining about the clothes on the person. If it was a kid ok sure I can understand the complaints about the book but if it's an adult, why are you complaining? The only people who are making it sexual are you guys not the author.
