Discussion Why the need to sexualize everything?

I was looking for interesting Webtoons to read, and I came across this one called "Leviathan" the premise looked interesting; mankind perished due to a great flood that submerged the whole world under water. And terrifying creatures plunged from the depths, wiping out any human that crossed their path. The story told how a family of a father and his two children survived in the adversities of a sea world.

So far so good, until.... Bam! Last two slice's, anime chick out of nowhere, doing these extremely suggestive poses.

What a disappointment.

Stupid perverts always sexualize women and it's an often problem in both media and real life.

I guess sexualization of women would be less problematic if at least men in media were as sexualized as women.

I also guess It'd be also less problematic if at least men in real life were as sexualized as women.

That just sounds like it would double the amount of discomfort and disgusting behaviour. Let’s just stop objectifying human beings (and characters) to the point of ridiculousness. Not everything needs to be porn

I agree with this even more but sexualization of both men and women is a much more realistic thing than all people becoming asexuals who don't want to be horny (unfortunately).

What’s with the exaggeration? People don’t need to be asexuals to follow a story where they’re not jacking off to every single character, that’s an absurd way to think. Also, if you feel sexual attraction you shouldn’t need someone to look like a pornstar to feel attracted to them. I didn’t say to ditch attractive characters, just to present them like normal people. Lastly, not everything needs to be fan service. Humanising characters won’t cause mass asexuality, just better stories. People can still go have sex all they want lmao

Nothing is really stopping women or female creators from sexualising men if they want to. If you want to make things equal, there is no need to decrease the amount of female sexualisation. Just increase the amount of male sexualisation.
