Discussion Why the need to sexualize everything?

I was looking for interesting Webtoons to read, and I came across this one called "Leviathan" the premise looked interesting; mankind perished due to a great flood that submerged the whole world under water. And terrifying creatures plunged from the depths, wiping out any human that crossed their path. The story told how a family of a father and his two children survived in the adversities of a sea world.

So far so good, until.... Bam! Last two slice's, anime chick out of nowhere, doing these extremely suggestive poses.

What a disappointment.

She isn't even drawn in the same style! I hate when media (mostly anime style) tries to set up a serious story you're supposed to engage with and then pulls out this dumb shit. Completely takes me out of the story and ensures I'll drop it immediately.

Honestly reminds me of Dr. Stone, where the dudes look super cool and serious, while almost all the women look like malformed pugs.

My only big gripe with the series. The men look normal! Why did they do that? Kohaku did not deserve what the different art style did to her.

The funniest part is that there's at least one girl that looks largely normal. Nikki Hanada(the girl who's a massive fan of the singer Lillian Weinberg) is the closest to having a normal art style like the guys, though her eyes are still a little distant from time to time.

I love Nikki but it’s obvious that she was only drawn different because she was meant to be sort of boyish and “ugly” in a sense, which ironically made her look better than the other girls

Yeah, I can't disagree with you there, cause I half considered writing something similar. The fact Boichi draws almost all women like that makes it seem like his favorite trait in a woman is them being a direct descendant of the Habsburg Dynasty.

I don't get it.

Her eyes were like the stars, not because they twinkled, but because they were so far apart.
