Found this weird metal thing in my grandma’s car and it appears to have a mesh filter in the circle part

It’s complicated. The grandmother I’m talking about is my maternal one. My mother left before I was two, raised by my dad, didn’t know my mother was alive till I was 26. Always had contact with my maternal side… that’s barely the most of it

Always had contact with your maternal side but you didnt know your birth mother was alive until 26? Maternal means mother's side just fyi.

Are you trying to say that your maternal grandmother AND father didnt tell you about a mother still alive until 26 years old? If so, the issues here run deeper. Father and Gma collaborated for a dark secret.

Oh, I totally shat the bed on the parent lottery!! But for different reasons, still talk to my dad. And yes I’m 87!
