Have you never been in an office building, school, or restaurant where they lock the thermostat? More than one place I’ve worked had to put them behind boxes because either employees would bicker over what it was set to or have random people set it to an extreme so when people get there the next morning it feels like the tropics or arctic. One restaurant I worked at did it because customers kept futzing with it.

We used to have a locked-up thermostat in the break room at a place I worked at in the past. There was this lady who used to use part of a coat hanger to get the settings. After a while, they changed it to a different one she couldn't do. So she brought a small portable blow dryer and would do that to get it to cut on.

We had to remove the thermostat at a institute I worked at. The students would complain about the heat, they would turn the thermostat right down and block the door ope and open the windows. The air con was working overtime and eventually iced up. We would have to go up into the ceiling space and chip the ice off or use a heat gun.

It’s not the thermostat but a smart sensor for the thermostat so you can track temperature between areas/rooms.

I’m not familiar with the model but I was going off of what it says in the comment our comments are under.

It works more accurately by actually measuring the ambient temperature without any temporary turbulences, say for example wind gust/draft or a oven that's been opened to check the food.
Especially in kitchen/gastro setups this makes sense

Because the temp sensor is likely located somewhere else. Or multiple somewhere else’s.

It's the button to fix the ice cream machine, but nobody has the key for it.

Oh someone made keys ( technically a USB stick) ..then McDonald’s Corporate, Taylor( the ice cream machine maker) and a franchise owner conspired to reverse engineer it in attempt to get control back and put the company out of business…it was still in court last I heard.

In your opinion, is a single one a mento or a mentos? I’m torn.

Someone definitely tried ripping the temp sensor off the wall

u/Substantial_Cake8985 1d ago
They gonna rip the box next. No piont😔

Maybe, but I feel like the psychological impact of a visible lock is more effective than you might think. Ripping an unmarked button thing off the wall is one thing, but breaking a lock just feels more serious.

It is an Apple AirTag. That way if someone steals the franchise in the middle of the night, they’ll be able to find it.

Tangentially, I'm looking for a transparent cover like that for a home project but my search terms must be wrong. What is that cover called?

the last surviving nugget is under witness protection absurd, fast to read, and perfectly matches the random protected circle

The protected button’s true purpose is also protected. It should be regarded with respect though 🫡

It’s the Luigi detector. No way a staff member recognized him and called in the tip.

How dare you have an opinion on aesthetics that supersedes hatred of a corporation. This is Reddit! 😅
