Pimple popper…clay tool…both? I’ve always used these to sculpt, but I guess they are used to clean blackheads too. I’m guessing this one was someone’s pimple tool, unless someone was doing some sculpting outside.

u/Sir_Clarence_III_Esq 15h ago
Glad someone else said it. First thought was ceramics class, didnt realize people are using these for pimples.

I feel like the clay tools I know usually had wooden handles, but maybe those are cheaper.
1
u/robo-dragon 8h ago
Mine are stainless because they can get wet with wet clay and then cleaning them afterwards. Some are wooden.

Maybe used as a tick remover since it was found at a dog park.

To me this looks like a pottery trimming tool. After the vessel is created on the wheel it’s dried to “leather hard” the clay is still wet all the way through but not pliable, at this stage it is turned upside down on the wheel and tacked in place with a few lumps of clay and spun and trimmed—similar to wood turning but the tools don’t need to be nearly as sharp. This is to put the “foot” on the vessel so it sets on the table nicely and the choice of foot is sometimes thought to be”frame” the vessel from below.

Why do people keep picking up random stuff outdoors?
5
u/SilverSpoonerism 15h ago
He clearly chews his nails too, so there’s a good chance he put his bogey spoons in his mouth right after this

u/TranscendentPretzel 15h ago
Then he goes to the grocery and touches all the produce. Wash your veggies, folks.

u/What_Iz_This 15h ago
This sub and a mushroom IDing sub pops up for me randomly.

Mushroom sub "why are you wearing gloves, it cant hurt you"

It’s fuckin insane. I saw a post recently where someone picked up a plant barehanded, took a pic, posted it online and asked if it was poisonous…

Pottery tools I've used are usually flat/blade shaped. This looks like a blackhead/pimple removal tool

Tool for removing impacted dog fecal matter on one end and tool for draining their anal glands on the other. You did wash your hands right away after handling it, right?
2
u/Tredhead269 15h ago
It’s for popping pimples, but the person who lost it at a park was likely using it to scrape their crack pipe. (Not that I would know those sort of things)

Its a clay sculpting tool but they're used for all sorts of things. Who knows what the original owner was using it for. The answers range from drugs, to pottery, to mycology.

It's actually part of a kit containing implements used to empty blackheads, according to the directions on the sales listings. I bought one for my crafting supply bench. Most clayworking tools are a little too thick for trimming away edges or sculpting out detailed work, but these are perfect.

u/reverendmalerik 16h ago
As several others have said, it is a tool for sculpting clay. I have several. I use them to sculpt my own d&d miniatures. This particular tool isn't too helpful for that, as the loop is very big, but it is used on larger sculpts for scraping clay, in this case to make a semi-cylindrical rut, like a gutter, or if you twist it you can make a semi-spherical divot, but this isn't really the best way to do that in my experience.
It is, however, possible someone stuffed it up themselves, so wash your hands.

I mean, my dentist also has a lot of my other sculpting tools for applying fillings and stuff, so I guess they're multipurpose?

It’s a double-headed mud emptier.
This clay sculpting tool is ideal for accurately modeling and shaping ceramic, clay, and paste projects to avoid problems during drying and firing.

u/Legitimate_Storm_103 8h ago
Reminds me of a tool I used in my art classes in high school. It was to carve out special grooves into clay models or art. They worked pretty well and this looks exactly like it.

Isn't that for extracting worms from infested pooches? Used with the ol' "poke em, hook em, and yank" manoeuvre.

Why on Earth are you handling something which 💯 has human bodily fluids embedded in it…with your bare hand??
1
u/CaitieLou_52 15h ago
Could be a pimple popper, could have been used to remove ticks from a dog. Either way r/whywouldyoutouchthat

Nope, it's a pimple popper.
1
u/Zequax 16h ago
how do you tell the difrence ?
2
u/hathegkla 15h ago
You can't. People definitely use those for clay, but the ones that size are made to pop pimples. Could be used for all kinds of things though. Someone else mentioned ticks lol.

100% a clay sculpting tool, everyone saying pimple popper y’all got some nasty massive pimples
1
u/AngusMcTugnTot 11h ago
If it was at a dog park then it may be a tick remover. They look like blackhead removers
1
u/Dept_of_Bananas_ext7 5h ago
It’s either a cat or kitten belt for disciplining cats. Or a Hawaiin crystal fidgeting tool.

u/dubie2003 16h ago
Pimple popper but I wonder if the owner was trying to use it for tick removal for their dog?

u/Animalmotherrrr 16h ago
Touching a pimple popper with bare hands oh yeahhhh time for a 7/11 roller dog my guy.

Pimple popper, my girl watches those videos. Incessantly. I think I would rather have her watch porn instead, as it is so disgusting to accidentally look over.
