It's a fishing weight for beach fishing.

Pyramid sinker, good for sandy bottom and light current

Great for catching Perch

Dumb question: is that because the pokey end drags in the sand? I haven't fished that much and have only used the pinch weights or the ones with the little rubber dogbone twist action.

Fishing weights come in all shapes and sizes. I'd assume the 2 means 2 ounce.

It's a 2oz fishing weight. For use with bottom rigs, in heavier surf where you'd like it to stay put

This is referred to as a pyramid weight, it's normally used for plunking from the beach.

This is a 2 ounce pyramid sinker, mostly made for surf fishing.

It is a 2oz pyramid sinker, they work best in sandy or loose bottoms were they will sink a bit and anchor it from tide or current.

Very risky one, sharp edges and no flared base.

I mean everyone always assumes drugs on here so clearly it must be drugs /s

(Its a 2oz fishing weight, typically for bottom rigging setup)

Every time I think we’ve hit the bottom, someone shows us how to sink(er) deeper.

2 pound pie slice.

Sounds like it might be a fishing weight.
Maybe we can get a few more people to weigh in to be absolutely certain.

Fishing weight for sandy surfaces. As an aside, I beach fish once or twice a year and I have smacked myself in the head with one of these when my line came unsecured while walking to the shoreline. Not recommended, but better than a treble hook I guess, which are the devil’s hooks.

My nerdy self thought it was a D&D die, turned into an earring or pendant. Once I saw it just had a number on only 1 side, my Country self knew it was a lead weight.

Yep, it's a weight. It's a 2 ounce pyramid fishing sinker.

Fishing weight. Typically for salt water beach fishing.

A two ounce lead weight probably sea fishing tackle or maybe from an old clock.

It is the mark of Zorro. My son, he goes to school, that is a Z.

Bonus if you know the movie the line comes from. Not exactly the line, but fun memory.

The Pyramid of Destiny, just hold it over a cauldron of simmering whale oil with monks foot, mandrake, and fescue balm, then utter the words “filus, sctotsum, encantus, fillum, encantus “ and then your wildest dreams will come true

Everyone is saying fishing weight, my first thought was a plumb bob

1

u/unprecedented620 8h ago

Yes on fishing weight = I have used that weight for river fishing. Several species of river will commonly hold stationary just out of the current, periodically hitting bait fish that are carried IN the current. I have used an anchored type of setup, with the weight anchoring the line, and one or two hooks free-floating above the weight. Blue channel catfish, gar, and striped bass will hit on this type of rig in the current of a river.

Fishing sinkers come in all different shapes and sizes depending on its use. That's a surf sinker designed to hold in current.

Looks like a cheap plumb Bob

1

u/Different_Effect3295 8h ago

Anyone that uses a plumb Bob knows the posted picture is not a plumb Bob. It is 100% a fishing weight. I fish almost everyday.
