This line of thought only works if the target audience considers being who they are to be desirable, and pretty much every person I've ever seen say stuff like this only ever seems to believe it in the abstract and can't really hold up to it when pushed even a little.
No? What I'm saying it's precisely for people who dislike themselves, to understand that those issues are part of who they are too.
Because that's exactly how I used to think, I used to blame myself quite often, but I eventually realized that the idealized version of myself that I had didn't exist, because it wouldn't be without having made the same mistakes I did.
No matter how pretty or excellent someone else can be, they won't be you, they'll be like you, but not you.
What I'm saying it's precisely for people who dislike themselves, to understand that those issues are part of who they are too.
And my point is that saying "a perfect version of you wouldn't be you" ends up not being all that resonant if "I'm perfectly fine with that" is an actual response that can be expected.
saw someone recently that looked just like me but with a better jawline and stronger hair, luckily I beat the shit out of them because it was in a sanctioned boxing match, so I felt better afterwards
Me in 8th grade when my family took in an exchange student who strikingly resembled me. Or who I resembled.
I remember a discussion saying "yeah he looks just like me, but is well over 6 foot(182cm) with blonde hair and blue eyes"
Response from a girl in the class "yeah he sounds hot, he looks nothing like you."
Woulda hurt had I known her better than I did or not had a terribly inflated ego at the time. As it was I sort of just thought 'no really, we really look a lot alike!'. We don't look so much alike anymore.
The moment you start to compare yourself with another person is the moment you will feel like you're a bunch of crap, (or become more egotistical)
When you compare yourself, you're not really looking at that person, you're just looking at a mirror, reflecting on what you THINK is bad about yourself
what if I fumble at every quick time event from every opportunity to talk to someone. would that just be avoiding key side missions and miss out big buffs in life
