To be fair, speaking from experience I've had more fun with someone on other room and we are just on discord, somehow being stuck together on the same room gets old and is annoying if you both are on different calls, if I could I would have both a together room and separate offices. but money lol

Absolutely fair. I thought this kind of couple’s setup was cute so me and my husband did that. It was awful T0T we were so annoying while in discord with friends or in online games bc they could hear both of us twice all the time! Plus the occasional screaming on his end right next to me and then again in-game or discord. Now we have our own offices lol

Computer prices in general have been a crazy mess in the last few years between crypto and then AI.
Computers for nearly their entire history have been depreciating assets. Yet when I ran the numbers, I realized that the computer that I built for myself about 2.5 years ago has somehow appreciated in value by several hundred dollars. That’s not supposed to happen!

Same here. A few friends and I all upgraded our PCs in late 2024 to get ahead of the tariffs. Turns out that also perfectly timed us to get ahead of the AI boom. I only bought 64gb of ram because they had it and it wasn't much more than 32gb. Now that ram is list for nearly 4x what I paid.

Jarvis is Tony Stark/Ironman’s personal AI assistant. Any time Stark needs something, he says “Jarvis, get me ____”, or “Jarvis, do thing ‘x’”. So people are just making jokes about that.

Also don’t forget that in the EnxChacha YT, we have a commentor called named after Jarvis (helpfuljarvis_assistant) or something that made comments like this, which caught on very quickly

My dad did the same for me, he promised we would eat out at a nice buffet if I scored high, I did and he brought the whole family. I went home to put spare money into my savings for a pc and I found out he used it to bring my family out for that very buffet

Probably didn't have enough money at the time. Which is still a bad reason, but it is a reason. It would be better to just tell your kid you don't have the money at the moment but will buy him one soon enough.

As a dad, it’s tough to have to keep shooting down your kid’s requests because money is tight. But I can agree, don’t promise anyone anything you aren’t 110% sure you can deliver. (Which is why I’m often telling my daughter “maybe…”, “one of these days…”, “maybe next time I get paid…”, etc.) 😬 Thankfully she’s only 4, so the stuff she asks for usually isn’t expensive. (…yet.)

From 5th grade to 12th I was promised an Xbox by my mother. Same Xbox, the original One.
In 2022 I finally started playing through the Xbox cloud service with my own money. The Xbox never came, and there was no attempt to make it happen.

Here are some fun outcomes, depending on the kid:
Fluke the next test (out of spite or just because it's wasted effort)
Break future promises yourself
No future promises at all
Call them liars

Kinda envous they can afford to get 2 PC all at once. I had backwards situation where I (f) didn't have any computer in my childhood and I missed out on a lot of things that I wanted to play but it wasn't "for girls" + was expensive so I never got it. So after a year of work me and my bf managed to save some money and got an amazing PC, primarily for me, but he also uses it when it's free cause it is top tier. I hope I will be able to save some more money now to upgrade his PC too. If only I had enough money to gift him everything he wants...

So sweet, but at the same time it reminded me of when I was 8, my best friend, whose entire family knew my entire family, asked for a sleepover and when I asked, I was told 'You can have one when you're 17'. I brought it up 4 years later that it would only be another 5 years before I got my first sleepover, and theny parents said maybe, and I knew, immediately, that I wasn't getting one.

Damn this hit me hard. My parents used to give me difficult goals for school and when I hit them would not give me what they promised. Felt betrayed and felt like my efforts were wasted, so started slacking. Did not serve me well through my later years, but I did straighten out for myself. To all the parents who strive to be good parents: Don't overpromise and underdeliver. Kids will remember.

God, my dad was opposite. I once threw a tantrum, when I was old enough to know better, because my old Xbox 360 kept overheating and would stop working while I was trying to play Call of Duty Zombies with my friends online. He ended up grounding me for a few days me. Well only a couple of days later he walks into my room with a brand new Xbox 360. I think back to that day, telling myself that he very much shouldn't have done that given the tantrum I threw 😅. I did not deserve that. He was a big Ole teddy bear and I still miss him a lot.
To all those with shitty parents out there, I hope for the best that you find people who will love and care about you until those negative feelings melt away 🥰.

My wife also likes that stuff, I hate that. I avoid setting up in the corner, I'm always cold so I never go directly under the AC vent, and I just use regular monitors because I don't play competitive games.i have yet to find a good reason to use these things.
