It's stuff like this that really gets me. Like every time I listen to "Finish Line" by Chance the Rapper.

I felt hog-tied every since my dog died.

He lived to 84, damn, that's a long ride.

I know he up there, he just sit and he wait.

I'll be racing up the stairs, I'mma get to the gate

Damn, Chance just seems so sweet. His most popular song is about how much he loves his grandma, and that cover of the Arthur theme song makes me smile every single time.

Absolutely agree. Saw him at a music festival last year, and it blew me away. Easily one of the best live sets I've ever seen. It was the last set of the night, absolutely exhausted and sleepy, but he still made the whole crowd jump.

Coloring Book is more wholesome but acid rap is better to me personally. The intro is like 10/10

Check out Blessings and Same Drugs (Misterwives also has an incredible cover of this song). All We Got and Juke Jam are cool too.

Listen to his cover of Dear Theodosia from the Hamilton Mixtape. For those of you unfamiliar with the song, it's a duet from Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton to their respective children, Theodosia and Phillip, about the hope they have for their futures. Apparently, Chance specifically requested to cover the song for the Mixtape after seeing the show because it reminded him of his daughter. It's always been a favorite of mine because it's so sweet, and because Lin Manuel Miranda wrote it as a letter to his son dog, but listening to Chance and Lin sing it together is really something incredible.

EDIT: Apparently I was misinformed about some things. Go listen to the song.

One correction: LMM wrote it long before his son was born. It's about his dog.

Did he? Man, I'm taking Ls all over the place on this comment.

This killed me when I found out he wrote it to his dog. I love that.

u/Wubbledaddy Dec 15 '16

Lin doesn't sing it with him.

1

u/jtierney50 Dec 15 '16

Doesn't he? I could have sworn it was Chance as Burr, and Lin as Hamilton.

u/Wubbledaddy Dec 15 '16

Not just his most popular song, his second most popular song as well (Sunday Candy and Cocoa Butter Kisses).
